SAS once again hit by strike.
The cabin union in SAS/braathen in Norway has cancelled all flights to/from Norway today. Excepted are some flights to/from FRA, STO and perhaps some ops out of bergen and stavanger.

I was also hearing that Friday and half of Saturday were planned. Also I hear they are gearing up (pardon pun) for a 'biggie' in mid-May, which coincidently coincides with Noggie Independance Day on the 17th. 
Remember in Norway.... Good weather = strikes = do less work than they normally do. An honest days (hard) work would kill them over here.

Out of respect for these people and their line of work (which requires higher education), and the huge responsibility they are taking on (serving coffee), I will not call them over-paid coffee-servers.

Agree with Little Fokker. Actually that goes for the whole of Scandinavia - hard work would kill them...
This strike is good for companies like AF/KLM, LH and BA. And even for the low cost like Ryan, Sterling and Nordic. It's good for everyone except SAS. Which is good.

Do you simply understand the reasons for striking ? Or have you been given at least a hint ? People don't go on strike just for the sake of it. And at least they're efficient, unlike most of GB. Things work in a very relaxed but organised way, VERY MUCH unlike GB (and the rest of Europe) where things just work cr@p (trains, underground, social services, roads, social security, not to mention pensions, etc...)
What's happening at SAS is serious. The airline is planning to turn things into such a manner that in a few years down the road, most flying staff will be made redundant. Why fighting for your sake should be pointed at ? Especially coming from the Brits who are so prone to getting shafted in a smile but keep blaming others for refusing the same destiny.

I do understand the reasons for striking! I am usually dragged into it once a year or two, usually because some Noggie wants more time off work than the little they do already. They plan these strikes in the summer when weather is warm and if they made it to the World Cup, that would shut the country down for a whole month. Right now, they are planning several strikes in the oil-industry. One is in a field of operations that want to work 2 weeks on a rig and FOUR weeks off. That is do 168 hours and then have a WHOLE month off. A lot of companies already have this facility in place....think about that for a minute. They really do not care if they get the money or not. The damn country has an oil industry pot of money that is worth a third of a million dollars per person right now and growing.
As for other parts of Europe, the UK, France, Germany etc (civilised and developed countries) have a population of 50 mill+, whereas Woodentop Land has 4.5 million and spread out far and wide. Their infrastructure is poor and if they find a strip of flat land - they build an airport! (Using oil industry money).
With all respect FRying, I understand why people strike and what their motives are, but most people in Norway do very well out of the system. I could go on about half tax for a month and all the benefits that the State give a family for new born. Unfortunately, they do not live in the real world and if they do not have enough money, they borrow - and heavily. Think how many people you know that are 'average' and have a house, boat, cottage in the mountains and maybe a couple of cars....?

I have to take some issue with you FRying about the Scandi effeciency.....I've flown SK about 5/6 times and have never been on time, Also I see there DPT messages that they send from scandi land , nearly always they are delayed to to roatation...or strike ...or fueler ...or somthing else ....very rarely on time
