Sri Lankan Airlines to Australia

Sydney will be back in the airlines network with the winter schedule in November, routing will be CMB-BKK-SYD, no further details.

Shanghai may also be added and return to South Africa is also planned.

One of my friends in the Sri Lankan community says that there are more Sri Lankans in Melbourne than in Sydney - he thinks a better routing would be CMB-MEL-SYD. It will be good to have Sri Lankan back in Australia, though.

Maybe it's not just about the Sri Lankan community Hence "probably" why the choice of SYD, i am sure the is other factors affecting this course of action by the airline to fly to Sydney.
