Ryanair to Cyprus
Hello,
A friend of mine suggested that Ryanair have applied for 500 slots to Cyprus for this Summer season, anyone know if there is any truth in this? When will the decision be made if they succeed/fail?
(This may well be the wrong place to ask such a question - please let me know if it would be better posted elsewhere!)
Also, if the Ryanair/Cyprus rumour is incorrect - what's the cheapest airline that fly there from London area?
Thanks,
Jake

Only a matter of time perhaps but Cyprus would drastically reduce their rotation rate due to 4 1/2 hour flight time each way - NO chance of quick turnrounds and some of their older aircraft would struggle to make it back to UK when faced with 40-50 kt headwind components coming home allied to lower than ideal flight levels when in Turkish/ Greek airspace.
MOL is no mug however and he will have done his sums

ryanair to cyprus
hello beamer,
your statement:"mol is no mug", is the understatement of the year, but it sounds good i admit & for information, all "older"aircraft(b732),have left the inventory since the beginning of january.

Are we talking about slots applied for in the UK for an UK airport or slots applied for in Cyprus ?
Remember that there is a rumour about a Greek base for Ryanair (SKG?) and for such a base flights to Cyprus would make perfect sense. Any routes from the UK would be pretty long when looking at the FR business model.
