Flying VFR to St-Petersburg (Russia) ?

Hi,

Like many VFR pilots, a friend of mine and myself make one big multiday trip every year with the clubs' PA28. Last year we went from Oostende (EBOS) to Corsika (Mediteranian) but this year we want to go to more exotic places and we were thinking of flying to the Baltic states and up to Saint-Petersburg (ULLI) in Russia.

I've heard however that flying to ULLI under VFR is difficult or even forbidden (IFR only), so I was wondering if anybody here has ever done it ? Or maybe there is another (smaller) airfield nearby that does allow VFR traffic comming from abroad ?

I've checked on the internet but there hardly any information to be found about aviation in this part of Russia !

Thanks for the help !

Björn
