BACX looking to drop Man New york anyway as it does not fit in with there business plan anyway
Rumor has it they are going to base 747-400's at MAN to fly high density internal flights to all UK regional base's filtering all pax to the jewel in the crown that is our world wide hub at LHR......
Or then again it could just be another BACX hatch it plan that takes them further along the high road to nouthing......

Taken from the Financial Times online:
British Airways is planning to restructure UK regional business BA CitiExpress that has been losing £30m a year with expected job losses, the pruning of the network and the fleet, and the possible closure of more of its UK regional bases.
Willie Walsh, BA chief executive, who won a reputation as a tough cost cutter in his last post as chief executive of AerLingus, the Irish state-owned carrier, said on Tuesday that the changes would be announced early next year.

I see on the famous orange website that they are introducing a BRS-CDG route, another one to compete with BACX. Wouldn't surprise me if CX pull out of BRS altogether now, the only routes that don't have competition on at the moment are ZRH and MXP. Bit of a pain as I have a flight to EDI booked with them next yr :o(

Devon guy BACX as it stands at the moment do not see easyjet as competition because they give a different service onboard ie low cost as opposed to full service if you can call BACX full service!!! that will possibly change very shortly if rumours prove to be true. BRS suprisingly is a money making base for BACX

From Waterworld it seems to say that BACX will be relaunched but as what. If the creative accounting shows a £30 millions loss then BA might as well sell it or close it. Would there be a chance of a buy in. From a logistics position surely if BACX flys only Dash 8 / EMB145 then the future does not look rosey.

BA to shake-up struggling regional business
British Airways is preparing to overhaul its loss-making regional business, CitiExpress, after chief executive Willie Walsh admitted its performance “was not good enough.”
Job losses, a reduction in its network and fleet and the possible closure of more UK regional bases could form part of the restructure, according to the Financial Times.
“CitiExpress is a financial challenge to us,” Walsh is quoted as saying. “We intend to restructure it early in the new year. Its performance is not good enough. All parts of the business must contribute to us reaching the target of a 10% operating profit margin.”
BA is already closing routes from Manchester to Cork, Nice, Pisa, Rome, Stuttgart and Venice in March next year and is withdrawing routes to Zurich and Shannon in mid-September.
Services between Birmingham and Rome and Vienna are also being suspended while the airline has closed operations in Belfast, Plymouth, Cardiff and Leeds-Bradford airport.
The shake-up follows the continuing fierce competition from low cost carriers.
Meanwhile, Walsh confirmed that BA will increase capacity in its profit-making business class cabins at the expense of economy seats

BACX is in the middle of a huge pilot recruitment drive. What are these people being recruited for? Will the planned interviews take place? Will the "lucky" ones ever make it out of the holding pool? Will everyone be told "sorry, change of plan, no jobs available now"? It's happened before with other airlines.

Just read this on Airliners.net about BA Citiexpres at MAN:
Was talking to a BA employee at MAN today who sad staff are seriosly cocerned about all the speculation surrounding this so-called announcement. They have apparently been told that they are to lose the BA branding of T3 very soon, and that it is rumpoured BMI are to move in, with BMIBaby as well.
Reports of an additional long-haul service have been circling among staff, the source went on to say, but management are being very tight-lipped. BMed also came up in the conversation....

BACX recruitment
Freebird17
BACX is recruiting to replace the current MASS EXODUS. To date, we have had 194 resignations since 01 Jan 2005! Every time the recruitment team go back to the hold pool................. ITS EMPTY!!!!
According to "FELINE" this is still just "normal 6% attrition". However its more like 40% of the pilot workforce leaving.

From what I understand this is talking about things that have been in the pipeline and in many cases already happened. Route closures out of MAN and BHX: already gone. Fleet reduction: RJ100's already going to Swiss etc..... So nothing really new, just old info rehashed.
Will be nice to see what really happens after "The Meeting" later this month.
