Ahh That makes alot more sense... I guess they must've spent all their money on this WIP. Seems to be alot more than they were planning on - general WIP NOTAM has been extended for another month!
Fingers crossed we can see some action in the next month or so things have gone very quiet!

What Master Plan?
Apparently the elusive and highly-complex BB/Galaxy master plan for extra stands at EGTE includes approval from Aerodrome standards to park a Q400 across stand 2 (90 Degrees to the terminal) and create a remote Q400 stand on the South side of disused rnwy31. There-by spending as little money as possible and p*ssing of all airport departments and operators by creating unecessary extra workload. Let us pray they re-sell the place so we can finally have a company that knows how to run an airport!

If that is the sort of 'planning' for the future, how the h*ll are they going to fund the other works.
Methinks they paid too much in the first place, and have run out of dosh. Either that or they are on a quick 'slash and dash' policy to make a quick buck

Posted in today's Express & Echo, Exeter is the fastest growing airport in the SW with an increase in pax of 200.9% since last year. This compares to somewhere around 72% for Bristol. This seems to be a good sign for the airport, but gives the expansion protest groups something to bite on.
Also looking at some of the latest photos, the northside disused has been given a centerline in order for aircraft to access the engine run-up area and there seems to be a new parking area northside where twy E enters...
Few Q's then:
1. Are they in the process of turning the northside disused into a taxiway
2. What is the new northisde parking area used for? Biz Jets etc?
3. The Holding points at N & S Disused... I've seen them labelled on a diagram in the FBO simply "Disused Northside/Southside" etc. Is this how they are refered to on RTF?
Sorry for the stream of questions after a period of inactivty from myself,
Thanks
Alex

I'd suggest not believing the figures published. The word is that movements lately are well down on the planned target and that the finances are not as healthy as stated.
Works are being slowed down to match income, but there are plans to set up stands on the disused. They are also planning to use the northside as additional handling area, but this all depends on future growth.

The growth has not been quite as spectacular as that. 200% in a year would be some going.
The figures you quote are the percentage growth figures for the five years ending 31 December 2007.
EXT has gone from 336,000 passengers per annum in 2002 to 1,012,000 in 2007, a very impressive increase.
In the same period BRS has gone from 3,415,000 in 2002 to 5,884,000 in 2007, a smaller precentage growth than EXT but somewhat larger in terms of bodies through the airport.
The other airport in the region, BOH, has had a similar increase to EXT in this period - up 176% from 392,000 to 1,083,000.
You are quite right though. These sort of headline sound bites will be seized upon by the opponents of expansion who will put about such nonsensical assertions that Exeter will be another Heathrow in no time at all.

Heya Guys,
What with all the diversions today from SMG & BRS - how did the ground cope with all the extra aircraft and all our normal scheduled stuff?
Also, any news on the rumour that the new stands are on the way and are going to be South-side disused? I take this would only be able to come about if they found somewhere else for GA to go in the Winter - presumeably Northside!

Having seen the wreck of G-OWAC it looks like management are picking off GA one by one .....
