Iceland Express

Does anyone know when we can expect anything new from Iceland Express?

I do recall a while ago they had new owners and were promising a brighter future for the airline. They recently had a new website created.

Iceland Express to fly to six new destinations in Europe
Starting next spring Iceland Express will fly to six new destinations in Europe reports Morgunbladid. The destinations include Bergen in Norway, Stockholm and Gothenburg in Sweden, Hamburg, Berlin and Friedrichshafen in Germany. Iceland Express currently flies to London, Copenhagen and Frankfurt.

According to Iceland Express there will be two to four flights a week to the new destinations. Tickets go on sale in October. In an interview with Morgunbladid Birgir Jónsson, CEO of Iceland Express, says that when Iceland Express starts flying to the Nordic destinations Icelandair will lower their fares - "at least that is what happened when Iceland Express started to fly to London and Copenhagen".

Grrr

Budget airline Iceland Express may have to be sold if Icelandair's talks to take over Sterling are successful.

Company officials have said that worries over competition issues could force a sale of the budget carrier.

Iceland Express and Sterling are both owned by a company controlled by Palmi Haraldsson and Johannes Kristinsson, who held major stakes in Icelandair in the past, Reuters reported.

Haraldsson and Kristinsson have been offered shares in Icelandair in exchange for Sterling.
