Cant imagine it will be much of in improvement. Even the -300's are ancient and this summer their -300's were delayed almost as much as the -200's. God help those who fly on 'em.

There is a memo on the AAI Intranet saying the same thing.
Some of the 200's turning into 300's.

Nothing on B777's though. That seems very unlikely.

Thankfully God was very helpful when I flew with Air Atlanta this summer on both their -200 and -300 747's.

Werent KLMS 747- "300"s SUDs not actually the only Boeing 747-200's to be converted to -300 stretched upper deck ?
Anyone know if there glass or dial cockpits ? I suspect the latter.

This may come as a surprise to most, but not to anyone who knows me, but I have always, and continue to regard the B747-300 as by far the best '74 ever manufactured, certainly the safest with it's 3 man crew. The technology is conservative, but it just keeps going and is much cheaper to operate per seat mile, even with its slightly higher consumption and slightly lower fuel carrying capacity.

I've been in quite enough B727 and B747 OFT rides to know the 3 man crew (that's with the Flight Engineer, not the third pilot!), is quite superior to the 2 man when it all hits the fan, and very convenient even when it hasn't yet!

I'm a nervous flyer in two-crew aeroplanes, because I know what sometimes goes on in those flight decks, which I guess means I'm going to be a nervous flyer for the rest of my retirement.
I'm flying BNE to LAX this week as a pax, and I'm not looking forward to it at all!

Cheers,

Don't worry too much Flight Detent, i am sure that your 744 or alternative next generation aircraft will have 3 or 4 pilots on board. Rgds.

Air Atlanta Europe has had 4 747-300's TF-AMJ, TF-AME, TF-ARS and TF-ARU operating this summer. Maybe timekeeping will be better with the new old 747-300's. We were lucky this summer and only had a 3 hour delay outbound and inbound when we flew on TF-AMJ to sanford. The manchester flight on TF-AME which was leaving on the same day as us was delayed 24 hours. But you come to expect delays with Air Atlanta.

Khaosia,

me thinks you missed my point here,

yes, you're right it will be an B744, but my point was that the level of airplane awareness and specific systems operation that most of the current 2-crew pilots have these days, it doesn't matter how many are aboard in the flight deck, the level of the abovementioned isn't increased, they just get to agree with each other more often!

Cheers,

Souls awaiting Courses

In respons to those waiting for courses:

I have been waiting since the middle of last year, they have been back logged !!!

Last I heard, was that they will not need any new pilots to be trained within the next few months ! Sucks !

Then again, this business changes every day =)

But, please if any body knows rumours, please do tell =)

737-400

Newcastle Airport has two of the above based during the summer months. Does anybody know what will be replacing them or is excel bring in another airline?

Would be nice to see an A310 based but i couldn't see it working for some of the greek routes.

Thanks

Latest news appears to be that they will be replaced by two 800's
with Long Haul cancelled, meaning a new operator for Ncl flights, possibly Monarch
