It's 'Topjet', it was 'Globe' for a very short while don't know why they changed it.

I was told that they changed back to topjet because Globe is a brand of condom in some parts of Europe and it was causing some embarrasment

The call sign was changed from "Globe" to "TopJet" as a single syllable word is more difficult to communicate over the radio apparently.

The company held a comptetition and staff submitted names, with the directors choosing the best suggestion.

The aircraft on the EDI-YYZ route will either be G-FCLH, G-FCLJ or G-FCLK.

These are the 757's configured to 187 seats.

Cheers

However, most greek and turk atc officers keep calling us "jetset", which is of course First Choice's callsign.

Oh well, who said life ain't confusing occasionally !

Cool

In the last two weeks of flying for TCX I have been called by varioys ATC units:

TopJet
Globe
Tango Charlie Xray
Thomas Cook
Jet Set
Condor

So as long as you listen out for all of those, I'm sure one of them will be us!!!!

Cheers

On the subject of call-signs, anyone enlighten me as to who 'Envoy' is. It was Airworld years ago (showing my age) but heard it again recently.

Cheers!
