What a complete load of£$%^ stirring RUBBISH.

You can't even get your basic facts right. We had in excess of 100 aircraft several months ago, with deliveries of one or two a month ever since.

Oh and by the way, in my humble opinion, in excess of 50 million pounds profit for the full year does make Easyjet a profitable airline.

Clearly, hairy Camel me old chum, you are not in the aviation industry!!!, or come to think of it, on this planet.

easyJet’s gift to Ryanair: a book on how to navigate a website

In response to Ryanair's most recent infantile babblings (taking the form of a "news release" on their website) easyJet have today sent Ryanair’s PR Manager a copy of "Internet for Dummies" to help Ryanair navigate their way around a website.

easyJet Head of Communications, Toby Nicol, said today:

“A couple of weeks ago Ryanair put out a factually incorrect “news release” which mislead people into thinking that we had reduced our flights to the Republic of Ireland - in fact, we have maintained the same number of flights and grabbed a large part of Ryanair's market share. Today they are trying to claim that we have removed our punctuality statistics from our website.

“We have recently revamped our website to make it even more appealing to our customers, punctuality stats can continue to be viewed in the 'information packs' on www.easyJet.com.

“Ryanair conveniently forget that they copied from easyJet the idea of making punctuality statistics available online in the first place. This is not wholeheartedly surprising as almost every aspect of their website is a direct copy of easyJet.com - which is consistently ranked as one of the best websites in the world.

“easyJet would like to thank Peter Sherrard of Ryanair for his continued interest in our website. A copy of 'Internet for Dummies' is on its way to him - what better way to learn about properly navigating a website. This will shortly to be followed by a lorry load of toys to replace the ones missing from his pram.”
There is no truth in the rumour that PPRuNe are sending Toby Nicol a copy of ''Inverted Commas and Punctuation For Dummies''

- Wasn't Harry Goodman very succesful at this kind of leaseback?
Er, no, Air Europe went bust, big-time.

In 1990, piers 1 & 2 at Gatwick were full of orange-painted aeroplanes, with a rapidly expanding route network and people thought that he was doing well. However, there was a chaotic mix of aircraft types, as diverse as B757 and F100. The first Gulf War put most of the nails in the coffin but I think that the mistakes made with mixed fleets etc have been learned. It probably matters less whether it's B738 or A319 but that you've as much commonality as possible.

The other mega plus for today's so-called lo-cos is the sophisticated booking and pricing tools - this is a major departure from the business as it was 15 years ago and is I think the biggest key to success. Pax are now used to the idea that if they book well in advance it'll be cheaper. I was trying to explain the concept to a hotelier friend who offers deep discount to last-minute bookings, on the basis of marginal cost for a room he mightn't otherwise sell. He says there's nothing so perishable as an unsold hotel room, but an empty airline seat is exactly the same. If someone turns up at the last minute, desperate for either, then they'll pay top dollar. The whole model has turned through 180 deg. Will the Inclusive Tour industry catch on to this, or are they a dead duck, now?

Cheers,
The Odd One

Mr. Camel do you remember the disgrace we had last spring when we at Ryanair had to wet lease in at least five aircraft while ours sat on the ground because of poor management we had no crew to fly them. Dont remember Easy having the same problems. You know we need at least 150 pilots before the years end to crew our new aircraft. The should be in the system now and it just is not happening. By the way that figure of 150 does not take into account of pilots leaving and last month we lost more pilots that we recuited. The majority of Ryanair pilots will not be flying Feb and March we will be out of hours. Mr. Camel Ive read your previous posts and you have a fairly distorted view of reality which is quite consistant with you being ryanair management but really I think that those in glasshouses should not throw stones.

I think Mr Camel has gone away. As the starter of the thread I think that he has an obligation to answer the questions raised.

We are all waiting.
