Airport Bashing

I have noticed there have been a few comments here and there about various airports, their pro's and con's (most tend to be con's!!! ), therefore may I present a thread for people to bash(or pat) airports about the head...what's good, bad, indifferent, could be improved and so forth.
I just think that there are a lot of comments made about different airports on their respective threads, so thought this might consolidate and maybe focus 'the powers that be' or is this just a fantasy and if I click my heels three times I will wake up in the nightmare that is the naff airport. Feel free to post a poll of the naffest airport, should you so wish.
Unless things have changed ...Prague Airport. Why? It used to have a brill 'greasy spoon' airside, last time I was there, it was 2 choices
1/ sandwich bar (crappier than Subway!)
2/ Sushi Bar (for heck's sake!!!)
(good landside greasy though, although the service left a lot ot be desired)

7006, given your location I'mm sure you'll appreciate this, good old EGNJ, probably fantastic as wartime Kirmington now completely in the wrong place (none of this has been discussed on PPrune before of course) .

I've found that generally, ppruners seem to take a delight in bashing rather than praising.

I'm very proud of the job we do at our airport, but there's plenty of room for improvement, both for the pax experience and for the staff that work here.

Contrary to some people's view, we DO care and ARE working on it! Constructive suggestions are always welcome, but just saying 'Gatwick is cr*p' is simply unhelpful and won't get anything changed.

Cheers,

Must say LGW is my London airport of choice, much better than LHR, Luton is a shed and Stansted is full of camera crews.

Favourite Airport

I quite like Docklands though I seem to be pretty unique. Easy to get to from the office (even easier when the DLR extension opens), decent viewing area in the bar, terrific views of London and I never seem to queue inbound or outbound.

I confess I quite like LBA too [U]in spite of its many known failings - landing on 14 in a cross-wind is a great white knuckle ride.

To even things up a bit.
LGW, OK but shame about the Chavs and Chavettes
BUD, now there is an airport designed with pax in mind, it is a bit clinical airside and seats hard to come by, but what a view over the apron!
HUY (obviously) OK it is old, leaky, 1970's furnishings but to be the only flight at 06.30hrs ahhhh bliss, coffee without queuing

perhaps we should change this slightly to best airport you have used. Perhaps the crappy ones (LBA take note) will read it and think oooooooo good idea. My two pennies worth is AKL (NZ) dogs gonads of an airport. Easy check in, no fascist parking people ushering you off for parking for 2.5 secs, arrival easy, duty free avialiable on arrival negating the need for the airlines to carry all that weight, and the people as well. OK the ag and fisheries dept can be over the top but considering the countries main export is farm products good on erm. They even put on top totty checking out your bags for drugs gotta be happy with that........... I'll get my male sexist coat........

LGW isn't too bad apart from the walk to some of the gates, and the queues at peak times at security.

LOS The new Virgin Nigeria domestic facility in the International terminal at Lagos has reduced the stress involved in travelling to PHC or ABV. Far superior to the existing domestic scrum over on the other side of the terminal.

The terminal at Kuala Lumpur is also very swish and modern with a good atmosphere.

I've had excellent short connections at CDG, AMS and FRA recently but I dislike FRA intensely due to its sprawl and poor signage. AMS and CDG are OK without setting the pulse racing, at least they have good facilities for coffee and food.

Overall the terminal I have enjoyed most is Paderborn, though it is some years since I used to visit it. Small but perfectly formed, and with a real aviation feel to it.

CDG has got to be well towards the top of the list for worst airports I have flown to

Terminal 2B was very shabby, badly signed and looking well in nead of a refurbishment as it looks very dated

Terminal 2F a lot better but not a nice looking building

T2 I HATE IT. have i missed out or is there nowhere to get a 'trad brekkie'. How I hate Danish and coffee to go, plays havoc with my digestion at 6.30am....where's the 'greasy' or is it all 'cosmo' now. (cue 'Grumpy Old Men')

naff all airside at that AM as well!!!!!

Two airports in South America definately worth a mention

Salvador de Bahia (Brazil)

Buenos Aires

Both very pleasant experiences....easy check-in, spacious and clean.

and in the UK, a recent flight to and from Jersey impressed, great viewing lounge upstairs while you wait for your flight.

Surprisingly perhaps, I was fairly impressed recently by JFK's Terminal 4. Of course, all the other JFK terminals are pretty awful.

Agree about CDG T2B. Quite an odd configuration with airside check-in which makes it rather difficult to fight your way past check in queues to make your way around the aiport concessions.

Of the London Airports LGW is in my opinion the best. LHR is a pain, last journey into LHR from CPH took 1+3/4hrs then another 2hrs to get off the airport.

Man is awful and so poorly signposted.

BHX is probably my favourite influenced not least by an amazing total time taken of 15 minutes from stand > baggage reclaim > multi-storey car park > M42 Motorway last Saturday.

LAS airport!! Considering the rest of Vegas is so plush and clean etc the airport is a dump!! Hand written signs everywhere, manual signs above the check in desks, hardly any airport facilities in the way of shops and restaurants. Terminal 2's only airside restaurant is Burger King....and its dirtier than Burger King in LHR trminal one and thats saying something!!!

Oh come on.... LBA isnt that bad .

Mind you ive been to Zakynthos! Words can not describe that place... (And im back on Monday, oh geezzzzzzz... good job the islands heaven!).

One of my faves is BHD, I have only arrived into there (flew out of BFS), but at the time I was meant to be arriving, as I was sat on the bus to the city centre, having arrived, taxied, walked, claimed baggage (This was mainly due to the Flybe flight been 13 minutes early, but still - 13 minutes to get through an airport having claimed luggage as well, is damn good!).

MUC Terminal 2 for favourite, spacious and efficient.
MAN Terminal 1 for worst. Arriving back here is like the third world.
