New "Low Cost" = BA Red!!

Word around the cap fire says that anouncement in September will confirm that BACX will be re-branded "BA RED". One in the eye for the caterers at BHX, MCT et al let alone the staff.

Does it make any sense??

Dont shoot the messenger....

Have also heard this confirmed today from an ex BAR cabin crew rep, apparently it's going to happen very quickly.

Perhaps BA should have formed its own low cost airline some years ago.

I don't like the name 'BA Red' though.

Something like 'Go' sounds snappier, but would BA ever come up with such a name, and if they did would they keep it?

What have the staff at Muscat got to do with it?

I can see the potential of this. It would remain to be seen whether a business/club element was retained for the core of business routes (so they tell us), like MAN/BHX - MXP.

Maybe flybe makes a potential good comparison. It would introduce possibilities such as MAN-Montpellier, Bergerac etc, and the return of Rome and Nice.

And the management team will be?

Please please don't let it be another bunch of BA clones with escape slides back to the magic kingdom when they screw it all up.

Fresh new blood with a serious investment of their own money in the business as well as a serious element staff ownership is what is required.

I would chip in, given the right team.

Is this just to replace some of its existing routes or would they expand to other airports like Go did at EMA?

HUY needs a lo-co

Funny though that you can't book any BHX-FCO flights for the winter, but you can for next summer.

There is of course the matter of a very valuable 07.20 peak time slot out of MAN. Would BA want to give that up?

I thought the 0720 slot might have been used by GB, but according to BA timetable, it isn't.

When I looked at bookings for MAN and BHX to FCO for next summer, both are showing as having flights on Mon, Thurs and Sats. Flights come up as daily on the timetable though.

Maybe when BA say that they've suspended these routes, they intend to bring back seasonal service....?

You would have thought, wouldn't you, that BA would have learnt first time around, but obviously they are into voodoo! At least they won't get catering hassle!

Do you have a link to that?

Not debating it, I'd just like to see it written down.
