easyJet starts 10th birthday celebrations at Glasgow Airport

Taken from easyjet.com:

Leo Jones, star of ITV’s Airline series, opened Glasgow Airport's new walkway linking Glasgow Airport’s main terminal to T2, the low-cost check-in facility, from where easyJet operates.

There was a double celebration, with easyJet kicking off its 10th anniversary celebrations at the airport, where the first flight landed back in November 1995, with a special reception for the staff and passengers.

easyJet will be hosting a number of celebrations for its 10th anniversary over the next three months, including a children’s birthday card competition, parties and events culminating in a return to Glasgow, as the airline replicates the very first flight on 10 November. Since its arrival in 1995, the airline has carried almost 7 million passengers on flights to and from Glasgow.

Leo said: “It is fitting that we kick off our 10th birthday celebrations here in Glasgow, where it all began, with the opening of a new facility for our passengers. easyJet and Glasgow Airport have evolved over the last 10 years providing more passengers with convenient and efficient low cost services.”

Glasgow Airport Managing Director Stephen Baxter said: “easyJet have been a huge hit with Glasgow passengers over the past ten years, so it seemed appropriate that we should ask one of the best known faces of easyJet to open our new T2 walkway. The new link is a real improvement and has proved very popular with holidaymakers this summer.”

EZY should thank GLA by offering more low cost international routes ! All these rumours of EZY GLA expansion appear to be nothing more than speculation, hearsay and pipedreams.

It didn’t begin at Glasgow at all it began at Luton. Fly for £29, the price of a pair of jeans.

Grrr

Luton was the start and centre of low cost airline travel in Europe. Sadly some of the folk within the orange shrink wrapped HQ who make current decisions were still at school then!

As Luton is not going to become a Bus base until 2007, it could well be forgotten that Luton lead whilst others followed!

Joe, dont bring your rubbish from other newsgroups in here, all thats been done is that a press release has been postd, and someone quoting what easyJet said at the time.

The sooner people realise that the English easyjet is not inerested in international routes from Scottish airports and get behind home grown products the better!

easy started with the LTN - GLA route because it saw an opening, nothing more, nothing less, it could easily have been to some other UK airport.
