Aer Lingus not in Malta and Greece?

AFAIK they fly to almost all of the countries considered western European, so why have Malta and Greece never been in their network, will they be fly there in the near future?

Malev sare starting DUB-ATH would have thought ir more feasible for EI and their LCC service.

There was mention of Malta, but this route is already served by KM. Is it sufficiently busy a route to get worked up about? Athens and Larnaca are reportedly possibilities as well.

Really, until a new CEO is in place, it's difficult to know/predict what attitude they will have to expansion.

Always use to see at least 2 EI A321's on FRI night operating charter services at CFU.

Some other potential routes from DUB are Bratislava, Krakow and Sofia. There has been huge immigration from eastern Europe since the expansion of the EU last year. More than 50,000 Poles have moved to Ireland in less than a year.

Dublin Airport bulletin board reports Malev are starting DUB-ATH x 3 overnight rather than having the aircraft sit at DUB. Also reported on Luchtzak.

Irish media is reporting that Dermot Mannion is the latest person to be mentioned in connection with the top EI job; Mannion is currently a senior executive with EK. If so, perhaps more focus on eastbound expansion.

(If he does take the top job, not sure how he'd feel about his former employees starting a DUB route!)

Mannion could always start EI > DXB and codeshare with Emirates on some transatlantics where it's not feasible for EK to use long range aircraft.
