one-off charter... how much?

Sorry if this is a bit vague but I hope someone from one of the ad-hoc carriers might be able to help me with this...
What would be the very rough cost for a day-trip from a London area airport, (say EGSS or EGMC) within the UK, on a Sunday, destination 45-60 mins flight time, return approx 8 hours later. Lets say 90-120 ish pax (so maybe a 146, 737?)
Also would the cost be a lot different for a smaller a/c, say 50-60 seats (ATR, F50 etc).
There is a genuine reason for my enquiry and only very rough numbers are ok at this time (say +/- £2000 for the trip at this stage?). Appreciate any help. Thanks.

B737 on say STN-CDG-STN on a based unit would be about GBP15,000 for a day trip as described.

Sorry to ask but while we are on the subject.

Whats the average cost of a LGW-TFS-LGW these days for say a 737-300 and a 757-200.

I take it that if this was a regular series of flts then the cost would be lower too.

Also

In your opinion, are the UK cariers cheaper or say someone like Futura/Spanair on this type of route.

Hope you can help

Many Thx

TJ747

PS. This is just out of interest for general knowledge.... nothing else.

THX

Think you should be able to get around £12000 for a STN based 737-300, smaller aircraft would not be a great deal less as you would be losing out with positioning costs. Always better to go from where the a/c are based.
Likewise LGW-TFS-LGW would only make sense for a Spanish carrier if operated in reverse and cost would probably be not too much different from a UK carrier. Approx £32,000 for 733 or £42,000 for 752.

Thanks for the replies. So a price of around £25k for a day-trip EGMC to EGFF sounds a bit excessive then! ?

Southend football club chartered a European 732 from Southend to Cardiff last year and I think the cost was around £15k according to what the crew said. However, because of the high temperature and preassure at southend, the aircraft had to make two trips so EAC lost out on that one....

Speedbird_heavy

yes, its the same flight again this year...
I assume this year the weight/balance etc will be worked out beforehand? Also some of the safety issues regarding over-run area at EGMC have now been fixed so that should help?
The club are charging £260 a seat for this trip which looks way too much to me (eg. 260 x 80 pax = £20k).

Anyone know who is doing the trip this year?

£12,000 seems far too cheap to me.

I would work on at least £6,000 per Block Hour, not forgetting positioning flights.

So with Positioning flights (lets say 30mins on each end) you would pay 3hrs x £6,000 = £18,000 + brokers commission + ATOL + something for the football club - so I think £20,000 is not a bad price at all.

Weekends might be even more expensive as most airlines will fly their aircraft back instead of leaving it sitting on the ground for 8 hours (European being one of the few exceptions to that rule!)...

I'm sure if they did 2 rotations with the same aircraft, then the cost could come down, but of course there would be more seats to be sold. And some people would have to depart earlier and/or later than might be desirable.

Yes, positioning makes a lot of difference so £12,000 from STN is not too far out using a based 737-300 (Channex maybe) but if you position a 737-200 from BOH or MAN to SEN then you obviously push up the price, not just the flying times but also extra landing fees. Plus as said a profit for the club. £6000 per block hour is a bit excessive for a 737-300 though (unless of course it's Titan's!)

I hear the a/c is being positioned empty from Scotland, (Flightline 146 is my guess?) so that might account for some of the extra cost. Thanks for all the replies.

So, how did the flight go this year?

Hopefully, somewhat better than last year and certainly better than the match result.
