BAA draw up plans for ABZ runway extension

In the local press today.

BAA have over the last year been drawing up plans to extend the main runway at ABZ to the north by anything up to 1,100ft to accomodate bigger aircraft & more distant destinations.

They say that they are talking to interested operators(Ryanair possibly being one?)&,if the demand is there, they will submit plans to Aberdeen City Council to extend the runway(currently 6001ft).

The longer runway will be able to accomodate bigger aircraft with heavier fuel loads, making destiantions to the likes of Egypt & USA within reach,non-stop.

BAA obviously buoyed by the continuing healthy pax growth at ABZ!

First 24hrs opening & now this!
