New Airline - A2B Airways Ltd

Was reading a local newspaper and came across a job advert to work for A2B Airways Ltd, a scheduled airline based at Blackpool Airport.

Anyone know anymore on this airline. Is it a FlyKeen revamp?

The advert says 'we are expanding our network of services to coincide with the introduction of our new a/c'.

Does anybody know anything about the new routes and a/c. I heard a rumour about a couple of sheds arriving at BLK in March.

cheers

Must be one of the "new operators and routes" that City Hopper Airports keep banging on about !

Please ......... not another PA-31 !! or Bandeirante !!

Any sign of them (City Hopper) spending any money at Blackpool yet and attracting any larger pax aircraft ?????

lol.I can just imagine a fleet of PA31s on the apron. That would be funny but not a surprise! What a let down if its one of the big announcements by 'City Hoppers'.

Its defo already a company who flies to IOM and BHD so I reckon its FlyKeen. So maybe its not a City Hopper special. We live in hope but I would like to know when the owners will announce new operators/routes. Obviously not going to be for the summer now and all the brochures are out for winter 05/06 so that gets you to summer 06 if its a series of charter flights.

What we need is another few routes by FR, EZY to open up a base at BLK and Jet2 to fill the gaps plus a few PA31 specials to add variety and everything will be sorted.lol.

with fr ordering 140 boeings you never know, they've got to go somewhere.
as for the airport operators - they should change their name to city hopper hot air limited

A2B were rumoured to be starting out of LPL about 18 months ago using MD80's, Mike Lee was connected with that. He is now involved with Flykeen. So watch this space!

Could it be that Flykeen is the established AOC and company for Mr Lee to launch the A2B project?

re

Local paper(19/3/05) has job advert for cabin crew staff required. Interesting, anyone got anymore news on A2B? The a/c they intend to use must be bigger than PA31/Bandits if nothing else.

Not sure which topic to put this under 'Blackpool Happenings' 'BLK-IOM' or what but since its A2B this will do.

A2B have announced today a Blackpool to Amsterdam Schipol 2xdaily service from around September time. They are currently buying jet a/c(3 of!!) to operate the route. Any ideas what a/c type it will be?

Also from A2B, they want to expand to other parts of Ireland ie Shannon, Derry, Cork and Galway. Wonder if FR had considerations in pipeline for a Shannon route from BLK!?!

Good news.

Confused.......

Just seen this, but don't know wether its old or not.....? (date line is 20 June 2005)

BLACKPOOL AIRPORT is the home of a new north west based airline. A2B Airways will initially operate 60 flights a week between Blackpool and Belfast and the Isle of Man. Other flights from Blackpool are likely to be announced later this year. Amsterdam, various German and Irish locations and Jersey are among destinations being considered. A2B Airways has been formed by Mike Lee the former chairman of the aviation division of Airtours and My Travel, Isle of Man businessman Nigel Kenny and airline captain Jim Morrow. Captain Morrow was previously the managing director of Flykeen, a small commuter airline which is closing down to make way for the new company. A2B Airways are using Shorts 360 aircraft for their Belfast and Isle of Man Services. Larger aircraft will be acquired for more distant destinations. We see here Jim Morrow (left) and Mike Lee at Blackpool Airport.

So which name will they actually be operating under? A2B Airways or Flykeen, if the A2B website is routing to Flykeen?

Also came across (on IOM new site)....

NEW AIRLINE FOR THE BLACKPOOL ROUTE

A NEW airline is taking over the Blackpool route from Flykeen.
From Tuesday A2B Airways will operate 60 flights a week, including flights between Blackpool and Belfast. It will use 36-seat turbo-prop aircraft for the Island service.

The airline was established by Mike Lee, former chairman of aviation services for Airtours and My Travel, Captain Jim Morrow, previously the managing director of Flykeen, and Isle of Man businessman Nigel Kenny.

Mr Morrow, managing director of A2B, said: 'This is a brand new airline with new pilots, new hostesses, new aircraft and new ideas.'

16 June 2005

60 flights a week (so 30 rotations.. per week - approx 5 a day?) Quote "new aircraft" So not the SD3-60 then????
