Jet 2 fleet

Hi,

Jet 2 recently announced a large expansion in Northern England. How many will they be operating for the next summer season? Will they be 'sharing' aircraft with Channel Express? In theory, it should be possible as they have quick change 737s...

Does anybody know if they are recruiting F/Os at the moment?

Cheers,

Jan

Think you'll find it's 7 at MAN and 1 at EDI to do the MAN-EDI.
8 at Leeds, 2 at BFS. 18 in total.

They don't share with Channex as such because Jet2 and Channex are the same company.

A request was made in January to the CAA by Channex to wet lease an Icelandic registered 737-400 aircraft from 10/2/05 to provide maintenance cover for the 737 fleet until 28/3/05 thereafter the machine providing additional capacity until 29/10/05.

I take it BFS is sticking with G-CELE and CELY being based?

I presume that G-CELZ is going to be the EDI based aircraft, given that appears to be already? it's certainly a regular day-stopper over at the cargo apron.

I would have thought that the EDI based aircraft could be either of 3 QC models, G-CELY or Z and G-CELA once is returns from Israel where it is undergoing conversion.

G-CELY is based in BFS, G-CELZ is already based in EDI, has been for a while. And I believe G-CELA is going to LBA.

A quick question are the aircraft in the fleet ever rotated round or do they stay at one base even when they have been through maintenance

They usually stay at the same base. Occasionally you get a few swops just for operational reasons. Usually when there are tech problems.

The recent ex-Lufthansa machines have B1 engines and as such are unsuitable for the longer sectors ex LBA, particularly in the Summer. The likes of CELH / I & J will probably not touch LBA too often. By the same token the majority of the B2 engined aircraft are required for the LBA routes, so in general, the original fleet will remain based at Leeds.

Will this 737-400 remain in all white or will it gain JET2 titles.
Nice to see JET2 are deciding to opt for the 737-400 which in my opinion is better than the 300 version as its range and peformance is much better.

Tommy, for the last time - NO!!. The 737-400 performance is not as good as the 737-300 and nor is its range.

It`s the runway performance not the range that is important if the the aircraft is overweight it simply won`t be able to do the job
