Ryanair Will Cancel Flights To Erfurt And Altenburg

For the last 2 months i've heard information (TV , newspapers) about Ryanair and its intention to cancel flights STN to Altenburg and Erfurt (both in "ex East Germany"). I fly there very often and i even have flight tickets for FEB... that's why i'd love to get some information.... avoiding rumours, please.

I've seen those aircrafts very full every time i fly there and cant imagine they are not giving good money to Ryanair. Also, Erfurt and Altenburg airport/governments gave millions of euros and facilities to ryanair to get those flights to these airports...

pleeeeeeeeeeease!!! I need info!!!!

(ryanair website just say no more flights to erfurt after feb. No explanation at all)

Wink

The flights to Erfurt have been stopped, the last service operated on 17th January. Stopping Altenburg flights is highly unlikely as the airport has just been upgraded and is now fully approved for B737-800 operations. Local governments closed the airport down for a few weeks just before Christmas but it looks like everything has been resolved and is getting back to normal.

thank you very much for the info.
And now the big question. 2 months ago I bought a ticket Erfurt - STN for 16feb and as you said there are no more flights doing that route. Does it mean i'll lose the ticket or they'll make me fly from Altenburg????

Any Ryanair tel number or email adress where i can call to get this info?? (i couldnt find an email address to send them an email to ask about this)

you will have to phone the booking line. The phone number should be on the website.

Ryanair would normally send you an email in circumstances like this. They may have recredited your card with the money already.

You can find the phone number by clicking the customer info link on the left of their homepage and then click on contact us in the top section of the screen. All numbers are listed for each country.

No, they don't. They do Stansted-Altenburg. Although they're closer to doing Leipzig than they are to doing Frankfurt...

Air Berlin do fly to Leipzig, and from what I've heard from friends who used them, it's a quality product, too (Pax viewpoint - won't comment on T&C's for staff). Pity they don't fly to my part of the world.

I stand corrected Tom.

I also note on the Leipzig Airport website that Air Berlin to commence flights to Stansted initially 3 days per week from 4/2/05. Monday, Friday and Sunday.

Altenburg flights can still be booked on the Ryanair website
