European may well re-establish their plans to launch a brand new no-frills airline, although I'm unsure whether BOH would still be a viable base for them, with the competition that would start up from Thomsonfly & Ryanair, as well as the potential of more services from Jet2. I think European have really missed the boat with a seat-only operation.
With regards to the MD-80, it was a proposed aircraft because they are plentiful & cheap on the market, although they are gas guzzlers, but probably much less than those 732s theyre currently flying! The longstanding rumour is that they want 733s & 734s, but there are no viable aircraft of this type that are cheap enough!
Air Luxor Light has been discontinued as a brand, although Air Luxor has decided to expand their scheduled services. They fly from Lisbon to some of the ex-Portuguese colonies in Africa, as well as some of the islands like; Madeira, Sao Tome & Principe. These flights are full service, and the airline has replaced no-frills with full service on flights from Lisbon & Porto to France, where there is a big Portuguese population. There is a fairly big portuguese population in the UK, although Air Luxor didnt seem to be able to market the flights appropriately.
Air Luxor may provide support for Virgin Nigeria's start-up, but the airline will not be providing all flights. I've heard that it could be one A320 & one A330, until A320s & A340s become available.
