Skynet Returns

Taken From Their Website

SKYNET AIRLINES PLANS TO RESUME REGULAR FLIGHTS

FROM MAY 2005 TO THE FOLLOWING DESTINATIONS:

FROM SHANNON TO MOSCOW, ST.PETERSBURG, NEW YORK.

Flights between MOSCOW, ST.PETERSBURG and destinations in the USA will be operated by the same aircraft.

Ireland is the only country in Europe whith US immigration preclearance.

This makes Shannon your most convenient gateway to the US!

THIS WEB SITE WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR TICKET SALES early in 2005.

Excellent!!! great news!
I'm guessing that the aircraft will be Boeing 767's as I know that they were trying to acquire them before all their troubles happened. Best of look to them

It is a good marketing point they are making regarding clearing Immergration In Ireland rather than in the US.

Will they be serving DUB like they did the last ime, maybe they should use Shorthaul equipment for DUB - Moscow as this route should be a little gold mine, once the flight time are at a reasobnable hour.

Thumbs up

It's great to hear they're back is right. I'm guessing 767 too but doubt 737's will return. Maybe some of the more experienced ppruners would be able to get accurate info and update us.
How will that leave their crews tho? New ratings? Or were they all let go? Did some take unpaid leave?

let's hope they get the marketing right this time, or at least do some marketing.
The fact that no-one knew about them, except for Ukranian meat plant workers who used them for Shannon-Moscow and onward to Kiev, Kharkiv and Odessa, ultimately led to their demise last time. No-one in Limerick or Galway knew about them.

With the transatlantic routes, they need to get their name out there at both sides of the pond

I thought the rumour was that they were going for the 767 family aircraft, so could that possibly include the smaller 757? I'm not sure that Shannon has the market for 250+ pax wishing to travel to Russia on a daily basis, or will the airline be trying to get through pax from the proposed New York flights, and even then, is filling a 767 a bit of a gamble?

Hopefully the airline will market their product more, and also try and make a go of building a decent airline from Shannon. Not sure whether the FR flights to mainland Europe will impede their growth on shorter sectors, or is Skynet's business plan purely for linking Shannon with Russia & USA?
