Perhaps if they did BRU again they could have a more sensible schedule - 2 return flights on weekdays and one on Sundays at least

The rumours I heard were adding 2x AT72, to help with their route sharing agreement with BMI Baby, and they were dropping an AT43. So increasing the number of seats they offer quite drammatically but only one extra aircraft.

According to the CIAL website (Click on News then find the airwales bit) the airwales pax figures are well up. Lets hope this growth continues in 2005.

I actually posted the article on Airliners.net (MY USERNAME ON THERE IS "Christa")

A friend of mine works at Aviance CWL and has mentioned to me that the 6G team were looking at these routes from passenger requests at CWL.

Personally, I believe that BRU & LGW have very good catchments for business and if operated at a good frequency they will do well, e.g 2x daily for LGW using ATR42..

Morning Flights
Depart CWL: 06:20
Arrive LGW: 07:20

Depart LGW: 08:05
Arrive CWL: 08:50

Evening Flights
Depart CWL: 17:15
Arrive LGW: 18:15

Depart LGW: 19:00
Arrive CWL: 20:00

For the BRU flights..

Morning Flights

Depart CWL: 06:00 (CWL Time)
Arrive BRU: 08:45 (BRU time + 1 hour)

Depart BRU: 9:30 (BRU Time)
Arrive CWL: 9:45 (CWL Time - 1 hour)

Evening Flights

Depart CWL: 16:00 (CWL Time)
Arrive BRU: 18:45 (BRU Time + 1 hour)

Depart BRU: 19:30 (BRU Time)
Arrive CWL: 20:15 (CWL Time - 1 hour)

Note, I have used 60 minutes flying time for CWL-LGW and 105 minutes for CWL-BRU

I also belive that the SNN and IOM fligths would work if they were operated at the correct times and frequency.

Regards,

Chris

Why LGW over a return to LCY?

LGW over LCY is rather obvious.. there are more time slots available as there is a limied amount of space at LCY unlike LGW and also the landing fee's are much cheaper at LGW than LCY. LGW with the rail connection I guess allows connections to various points in London for the business & lesiure passengers. Would also think that LGW allows connections worldwide with BA, VS, EK etc.

Regards,

Chris

LGW is not at all obvious to me. Getting slots there is possible, but at the times you would need to make this service viable? No chance - your times, CWL_P are peak at LGW. In any case, given that a large number of potential passengers on this route will be the bucket and spade brigade, will they want to add another £75 to their tickets? What if AW goes tech, gets delayed? They miss their flight, with no comeback on AW (which is a point to point carrier, no interline agreements in place).

As for BRU, you have missed the "dead sector" problem. BRU-CWL-BRU will be very lightly loaded, and this affects the economics of the route badly. The suggested flight times would also play hell with the existing schedules....

As for routes from PLH - look guys, PLH is short, narrow and nasty. There are very few routes you can do out of PLH with anything like a sensible load, and between 6G and WOW, they are virtually all covered. If you want to see more interesting routes, try EXT!

SNN from CWL? Nah.... you ever BEEN to SNN?

Wait till MOL gets his 738s on site. Will get busy then.

Plus there are plenty of US military types in desert camo clogging up the duty free looking for gifts for the missus.

Having flown ex SNN on 1/1/05 was glad it was quiet (except the duty free), and even more so that I got out before the EI staff took industrial action at 10am! (Which apparently was a contributing factor to EI being down *two* 330s from wind damage at DUB).

[Edited to note that well timed CWL-SNN codeshares might make fast journey times to the States than the alternatives]

EI-WAT

Intresting reading about Air Wales possibly launching services from WAT to Cardiff. Is there a market for such a flight?

Beating my mate Rabbs to it - I heard, NSR, that they are a launch customer for the A380 - and the reason that there is so much white paper over the beast at the moment is to hide the big red dragon on the tail. It is apparently going to start the new PLH routes - SYD, NRT, CPT, LAX and SWS.

Really guys - how much rubbish has to be posted on these threads before the penny drops that it is called PPRUNE - PROFESSIONAL Pilots Rumour Network - for a reason?

If you want to go and run an airline, run an airport or fly an airliner - go train to do it - don't pontificate this nonsense at those of us who have to for a living.....
