BritishJet
Just been in touch with Maltabargins about flights to MLA from LBA this summer. They told me their Sunday evening flights to MLA will be operated by BritishJet using an A320. Anyone know anything about this one?

Yeah it was for summer 2003, Thursday afternoons i think it was. The lady on the phone said the airline is called BritishJet and using a A320. Just no idea who they are though? The fare is really good at £150 rtn for June.

Just done a quick search.
Found a website: www.britishjet.com
Doesn't tell you much but automatically forwards you to a Malta Holiday site.
Aircraft in the picture is definitely not A320 (think its a B717).

Isnt it just the newly to be formed UK arm of Air Malta that has been planned for sometime. Air Malta have been quoted as saying they want to massively increase their UK charter presence. Seen last year by AMC aircraft operating flights from UK to all over the Med. and not exclusively to Malta,
Have to agree that I expect this will be Air Malta in disguise. When Azzurra (have I spelt that right ?) went down the pan, the LBA Saturday Faro switched to Air Malta for summer 2004, I guess because Air Malta was a substantial shareholder, if not outright owner, of Azzurra. So this Britishjet thing is probably just a natural expansion of what Azzurra used to do. Interesting set up; Italian registered company, Irish registered aircraft, Aer Lingus crews, Maltese ownership, flying to Portugal. From England ! Anyone know if Air Malta (or Britishjet) are doing the Saturday Faro again this summer ?
So what's the problem? UK, Eire, Italy, Portugal and Malta are all EU members - we all live in Europe and there's (supposedly) free movement of labour and financial services.
Name's a bit limiting though - EU Air might have been better - even EUJet - but then that's another story...

It is the Malta Bargains operation and absolutely nothing to do with Air Malta!
Understand that they will be flying daily Gatwick, three times a week to Manchester and then weekly to Birmingham, NEMA and Leeds Bradford.

This is nothing whatsoever to do with Air Malta and I really don't know why this thread has developed into a revue of Air Malta's operations!

This has nothing to do with Air Malta. This is just a travel agent leasing a Swiss MD90-30 to operate charters to/from Malta/U.K. The travel agent is Bargain Holidays who I believe even used Astreus in the past as their carrier.
The only Swiss operator I could find that has MD-90-30 on their books are Hello which have 3 such aircraft HB-JIA, HB-JIB, and HB-JIC so it is quite possible that it will be one of these aircraft sprayed in Britishjet colours. These aircraft are mostly ex-AMC of Egypt.
Aircraft will be operated/maintained by Swiss crew so I guess it will all be done on the Swiss AOC who must have rights to operate between EU countries.
