Vote for most comfortable Y class seat
It would be easy to assume all economy seats are the same - too narrow, no legroom, knees in your chest and rock hard cushions. But after much travelling I've decided they are all very different, and Yes there are some really quite comfortable ones around if only you know where to look and what to book. So, which in your experience is the most acceptable seat?
My vote goes to the B717, op by AeBal for GermanWings on LON-CGN route; nice soft pad, gentle headrest, good pitch and yes ideal for sleep - I was ZZZ'ing before pushback.
Any others worth seeking out?

AA 777 is pretty comfy. Nice leather seats, plenty of legroom, and decent food. Started charging for booze though! Prices are still low.
The best seats are near the back, where the configuration changes, as you get extra width per seat, and an armrest TV. Check online to see the seatplan, & prebook seats.

I agree with the AA 777, although I found the AC 763 quite comfortable. On AC I was in a small section just behind first/biz which consisted of about 5 rows. Was in a 2-3-2 configuration, not sure what it was like further back. On AA I think I was in about row 42 and had plenty of room.
Oh and definately non of the seats on a 146/avro rj where they cram you in 6 a breast

Well any type by Monarch is pretty rank, even though they are operating more & more "scheduled" flights the seat pitch is still UK charter chicken coup class.
Best Y has to be Air Berlin FK100-leather seats & superior pitch than their B738s.
BMI A330 is OK too.

Good
Thai, 34" legroom
Kuwait, good legroom, 2+4+2 in A340
Terrible
Emirates, 3+4+3 in 777. Why do they think they can still squeeze the same number of seats into a thinner 777 as a 747?

My vote also goes to AeBal and it's 717 cabin.
It is a pitty that very few people will have had the experience.
Spotty M's seats on all their aircraft are the worst and strangely enough are AeBal's parent, Spanair, on their A320's. It is a shock to the system to change aircraft in Madrid from the comfort of an AeBal 717 to a Spanair A320 crushloader!

The best and the worst that I have experienced, to concur with others above:
Best - Air NZ 767, across the Pacific, 35" pitch I think, adjustable headrests and (small) footrest - excellent.
Also a vote for Flybe (seriously) - the Q400 seemed nice and roomy to me.
Worst - Air2000 (as was) 767, 29" pitch and 2-4-2 for 10.15 hrs LGW-CUN is just not acceptable (but I hear they are making it much better for S05)
