New Jet2 BOH route

JET2.COM ANNOUNCES BELFAST ROUTE
Bournemouth-based Dart Group plc today announced that its low cost airline subsidiary, Jet2.com, would start a daily service from Bournemouth to Belfast next March with fares starting from £16 including taxes.

The airline will start services to Belfast International Airport on 23rd March 2005, just in time for the Easter break. Demand for the lowest fares is expected to be high and seats go on sale at 5pm today.

Jet2.com boss Philip Meeson said: "Belfast is fast becoming one of the most popular city break destinations in Europe and, for many, is the 'new' Dublin. Its compact city centre has been revitalised by modern developments, warehouse refurbishments and a raft of trendy new bars, cafes, restaurants and clubs.

"Its popularity among stag and hen parties is boosted with the likes of the Belfast Music Festival, its four-day St Patrick's Day celebrations, the Summer Fest, the fringe Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival and the three week Belfast Festival at Queen's which, after Edinburgh's, is the second-largest arts festival in the UK.

"What's more, the city is an ideal base for exploring the beautiful surrounding villages and countryside of Northern Ireland. If you add the demand this is sure to cretae from south coast travellers to the vast numbers we will bring into Bournemouth and the surrounding region, then we're sure to have a hugely popular service on our hands," he concluded.

Daily timetable:

Depart Belfast 10.30 hrs
Arrive Bournemouth 11.45 hrs

Depart Bournemouth 12.15 hrs
Arrive Belfast 13.30 hrs

BOH is interesting - getting in before ThomsonFly perhaps? BFS already been mooted as a destination from there and Doncaster/Finningley/Sheffield/Robin Hood/M1etcetcetc.

Any confirmation on when those ThomsonFly routes will be announced/released?

Good day for the province I'd say, what with FlyBe's announcements (Leeds yesterday, NWI today, who knows what tomorrow will bring? :-)

Jet 2 BFS-ORK fares Tuesday to Thursday start at 1 Euro each way before taxes! Bet RE are frothing at the mouth today with their two monopolies ex Cork to Belfast and Birmingham about to end!

To think though that when Air Southwest (the elder) started Belfast with the Bandit so many years ago and for the route to later develop with Jersey European Dash 8s, Jetmagic ERJs, RE ATRs and now the next step up with 737s! It is a remarkable progression! Hope Jet 2 and RE continue to do well with Belfast! Jet services between Belfast and Cork and none between DUB and Cork. Room for someone there too?
