Saudi airspace

I find it strange that when overflying Saudi airspace, ATC has a habit to instruct @ psn abc call Jeddah freq xyz. The distance & time betwen the 2 points maybe quite considerable, so what would happen should one have a problem betwen the 2 posiotions but out of range with the first freq but not yet in contact with xyz ?
Secondly, the normal way, if you fail to establish contact, you revert to the previous freq for further instructions. In this case the previous would be out of range.
Thirdly, the controller is transmitting simultaneously on more than one frequency.
Has any of frequent flyers in the region reported this ?
I find this to be potentially dangerous.
cheers.
