I do apologise for misunderstanding your point there, forgive me as I have been flying a fair amount this last week and am a little tired.

Is it just me......?

How will the airport react if the Ryanair DSA rumours prove true?

"Do I look bovvered?"

The EMA website is !

They still have ICC minutes on there from 2003, and nothing for more recent meetings!

They can only state that last August Bank Holiday weekend a "Similar Number" of passengers used the airport as this year - should there not be an increase in pax numbers if the airport were pulling the right strings?

Honestly - they are loosing it! WW up sticks and invest in BHX, and if FR take their business up the road to DSA!!! Man alive!

EZY have their new 319 arrive tomorrow - can they be looked to increase pax services??

Seems clearly apparent that MAG are only interested in a super freight terminal. While Peel airports provide what everyone really wants in the Midlands/North - a wide selection of LoCo destinations.

We should all morn the day that MAG got their money grabbing hands on EMA. EMA is the prime location to be the LoCo alternative to BHX - instead, so as not to impact on MAN operations, MAG have banished EMA to the wilderness and sit blindly by as CVT and DSA grow with enthusiasm and eagerness.

Am I missing something....?

I believe Peel are also interested about increasing freight (not just hold cargo carried on scheduled/charter flights)

Dear egnxema welcome to the MAD MAD MAD MAD World of THE MAG Group!!!!

Am I missing something....?

No you are not.
MAG seem intent in mis-reading the economics of running airfields these days. The basic rule of thumb that "You make the most money from the number of passengers you attract" seems to elude them!
We've had this at Manchester for some time now.
A few years ago they didn't want to know about Lo-co, positvely discouraged it all in favour of the more established airlines like British Airways London Rowheath, and British Airways London Wickgat. That was until Liverpool started to attract rather a considerable amount of traffic and consequently Pax!
Now surprise surprise, MAG can't get enough of them, but it appears they've missed d'boaat! Meanwhile dear old London Gourmet Airways seem to be pulling at the plug, with route reductions and frequencies. Will Pax numbers hold? Not as much as if one of the established lo-co operaters were present. Jet-2 are doing OK, and Baby also, but given the "knowledge" of the British general Public, they'll always automatically log-on to Easy, & Ryanair first before even considering anyone else and that's if they even know about them!
Hope you don't loose-out, but given Peel's past track record with attracting Lo-co, I'd be suprised if it didn't happen.

Chin-up, with the present rise and combined forecast fuel shortage in a few years time, all airfields will make dammned good cycling tracks!! ( There's only just so many Top-Gear type programmes I can stand!)

hi guys

Looks like the airbus will be a dream, my friend operated on the bus last night to Malaga and she says it was wonderful and the passengers loved it.
Next one comes next month, lets just hope it will bring more new routes now !
Take care all and have a great weekend !

Not without extra aircraft. Is there any sign of that.

Sadly not at the moment, it would be nice to think that EZY will give us more routes and aircraft but I don't think so.

Who knows what the future holds:

Is the furute bright? is the future Orange?

So what is the delivery schedule for the other two A319s at EMA? Will they both come next month, or will it be one in October then another in November ...?

Ryanair to open it's 15th base at NEMA.

See their press release on their website: Ryanair announce Nottingham East Mids as 15th Base

A fair good mix of routes they will be serving

Is this the beginning of the end of bmibaby at Nottingham East Midlands now Ryanair are fully committed to NEMA, I feel that the bmi group will turn and run and head off down the M42 to BHX with its bmibaby flights and only leave the bmi regional rotations operating at NEMA, they know that they can not take Ryanair head on in the Low Cost market.

Do you think Nantes is going to take a big place in Ryanair's network in the near future? I think they know they have catched a big market, for tourist travellers as much as for business travellers...

If the have a deal ( no idea if they have or not ) does the same apply to Easy and Baby.

It's extreamly unlikley this will happen, as ryanair are not in direct competition with bmibaby on routes from NEMA.

But maybe this will make bmibaby and easyJet think about more routes etc, after all when ryanair get a foot in the door who knows what will happen

Well Congratulations to Ryanair, just what EMA needs now, some good news, the only news if all at EMA this year, i have looked at the new routes, i at first apart from the Berlin, thought where are they ? but on looking on www.ryanair.com i think they have chosen very good routes indeed, varied and really up and coming places.

The routes will not affect EZY at all, only if EZY decide to do SXF now,but EZY will lose out as Fr have got in there first!
There are a lot of routes to france i see, and i only imagine this would affect BMI as of there CDG, but are baby still doing bordeaux ?

Well take my hat of to them for getting in, new planes etc... shame it isn't coming earlier than March 2006.

With this announcement now, maybe EZY will improve there services out of EMA, and go for some new routes as well, to compliment these, like Copenhagen, Sweden etc.....

Lets all keep our fingers crossed

Take care

Mike

As I mentioned in another thread, and easyboy has mentioned here, it is unlikely that Ryanair's expansion at NEMA with the opening of a base, will cause too much distress amongst bmibaby & easyJet, because there is virtually no overlap between the existing airlines & the new routes that Ryanair are launching in March.

bmibaby have had something of a bad track record at EMA in their brief history as soon as some competition has reared its head. Dublin & Murcia were swiftly dropped or saw a massive decrease in frequency, rather than stand our turf, so it will be interesting to see the reaction. If rumours are true that another 737 is coming in March, then I'd be interested to know whether routes that were transferred to BHX will be duplicated at EMA, or if we will see a return of any routes that were dropped, such as BCN.

easyJet is something of a tough cookie, nobody really knows anything about their operations at EMA. They have been a tough competitor to Ryanair in airports where the two both operate such as STN or LTN, but EMA isn't exactly a prime patch! The 3 Airbuses to replace the Boeings are arriving, and hopefully more will come in the future, as there is plenty of room for expansion!
