Scandic...DC10
Looks like its all going ahead.....................
"HowAbout South Africa’s programme is operated by Air Scandic, a privately owned aviation company whose main flying base is Manchester.
Air Scandic operates a modern DC10 aircraft which has been fully refurbished for HowAbout South Africa passengers. The aircraft is registered in the United Kingdom under the control of the UK Civil Aviation Authority.
Cabin crew are recruited within the UK, and are keen to ensure that you have a pleasant and safe journey.
The aircraft has been extensively refurbished, both front and back-ends."
Good luck to them !

Latest rumour from Scandic is the DC-10 deal has fallen through. Now plans centre entirely around Finnair. 2 x MD80s this winter and MD-11s (!) next summer, in place of the A300s. No problem with getting them on the UK register as they will be wet leased so Scandic will be a virtual airline if this goes ahead.

I'm sure passengers would be happy with challenging MD80 techstops at Lagos and Luanda on the way to their vacation!
Looking forward to see ads like

speedbird_heavy, The MYT DC10-10's were built in 78, 79 and 80. BYDA was built in 78.
I am astonished that any airline thinks that taking on a pax DC10 is viable now. The 10 is a brilliant freighter but is now completely passe for pax operations. With several 763's available( an aircraft with similar range /payload performance but reduced costs) the choice of a DC10 is even more surprising. What are the chances of an early demise for this operation?
