Work on the business park opposite the terminal is going to start within a few months.

A million square feet of floor space is being created with a petrol station and hotel also being built. By the sounds of it quite a chunk of the space has alreay been signed for by a number of companies.

The final part of the plan is the M18 link road of which plans have been submitted, but a decision on funding for local transport plans (Airport link road, Supertram extension and Barnsley M1 link are amongst the 6 jostling for approval) is not due until next year.

I didnt realise the plans were so extensive! Tht would be a huge boost for the airport! The one thing that badly lets the airport down is its connections to the motorways!

No they are not all for the airport.

They form the South Yorkshire Transport plan.

The airport link road is for the airport. The supertram link is from Sheffield to Rotherham, and the Barnsley link road is from Barnsley to the M1!

They are up against each other for the money on offer.

It depends on how the money is allocated.

If for some reason the plan was overlooked the link road would still eventually get built, its just a matter of time and funding.

Sooner rather than later though! I dont like the A614 for tractors and after driving from Hull dont like to face the drive through Doncaster and all those traffic lights!

Saying that when i flew to Prague in July from DSA it only took me 40 minutes to get to DSA from my house in the west Hull villages! It was at 6.30 in the morning though!

To the guy from Hull. There is no need for you to go through Doncaster town. Just come down the M180,and join the M18,off at j4 and straight through. Absolutely no traffic lights. I live near the airport and use this route regularly. Very straightforward. Hope this is useful.
