charterguy,
Have you paid money to receive the updated IATA database? If not, then accept that it is DSA, and if you have, then you will know that it is DSA>
If you look on the website (which I assume is your oracle of all information) then you will see that it clearly states the site is not updated, and has not been updated for about 18 motnhs now.
The code for once and for all is DSA. It was changed in April last year and has nothing to do with Peel picking a code out of thin air, the code was changed with IATA in Montreal last year, I should know, I did it.

been told again today that the first flights aren't happening and that pax have been notified to turn up earlier than planned as they are to be bused elsewhere (NEMA mentioned again) to catch their flights, understand the reason is because either the arrivals or departures hall won't be ready ??
anyone know who the cargo operators are gonna be,ie the ones mentioned starting before 28/4 ..

donnyradar,
rest assured DSA will open on 28 April 2005, and the flights WILL depart from DSA!
u say u have heard rumours... well, this website is all about rumours, mostly ones that have a bit of knowledge and truth behind them... your 'rumour' doesnt!
has anyone got sight of this 'notification to turn up early'? No? Thats because it hasnt happened!
to satisfy ur curiosity, why not call thomsonfly and ask the question... report back here if you can confirm your 'rumour'... (doubt we'll be hearing from you again!)... otherwise let us get on with enjoying the commencement of commercial operations from the UKs newest airport.

Lakeside, as you are the fountain of knowledge in all things DSA, can you confirm that DSA has HM C&E clearance for International Cargo, as Terry was suggesting that Cargo was imminent?

The AWACS photo on the website looks wrong to me. If you're parked at those lights looking up the hill, aircraft land left to right, not right to left as per the photo. However it could be just the way the photo is reproduced.

7006 I really dont know why you are being so negative about finningley. Freight is coming in before 28th.April,and passengers are flying from finningley on that date. I think you can assume that all the legal work has been done. You have an answer. Get on to the authorities and report them. You are asking questions toi which the answer is surely obvious. Just do what airhumberside is doing, and say good luck to both airports. I certainly say good luck to humberside.

Terry,
If stating facts and asking questions is being negative then... .
In comparison to the drivel wriiten on the Humberside pages by some of the Finningley devotees of this site, my statements bear no comparison. (check out Lakeside's postings for vitriolic attacks!)
Me, I'm just a 'Montana Man' (the "show me" state)

7006 just to keep to the facts,as you put it. i dont believe i mentioned "international" freight, and in fact i dont know. dont think hm customs wouldbe interested in internal freight. you just jump to too many negative conclusions. incidentally,on the humberside site,i dont notice any of the supporters there with the same attitude as yourself. your comments simply irritate and cause bad feelings between supporters of both airports.

Give it a rest.......there have been multiple quotes in recent newspaper articles stating everything is on schedule.
If there were any delays don't you think passengers would have been informed of any changes by now.
Stop the Doncaster bashing and count down the weeks!

I have heard from reliable sources inside TOM that they will launch their flights on 28th April, as scheduled.
Considering all the fuss over Coventry (7006, there is a separate thread where it would be more suitable to respond to your comments), TOM managed to get their flights off from there with no major problems (30 mins delay on the first flight).
The BOH launch last week went ahead exactly as planned. We can't count chickens until they are hatched, but I see no reason why they can't make it 3 out of 3.
All of the above airports offer important access to a wide choice of flights for people who don't want the hassle of larger, more distant departure points.
Why do we have to keep bashing everything? I look forward to a successful start from DSA, as I'm sure do many thousands of other people living in its vicinity.

The same Air Traffic Controller ought to be aware that things are all on track for April 28th opening. The original opening date of March 16th might have been tight but with the airlines wishing for their own reasons to start on April 28th, then its given the airport a bit of extra breathing space.
There's bound to be someone scaremongering out there but on this one not much evidence to scaremonger with.

So, if all is going to plan, can we agree for once and all what we are going to call the place?
This thread is for Doncaster/Finningley, but Finningley seems to have been dropped elsewhere, although perhaps if the airport does need its own "symbol" other than DSA, it could be "the airport formerly known as Finningley airbase".
TOM and FR both call it Doncaster Sheffield, but OAG just has it as Doncaster, and makes no reference to Sheffield. They don't even list the airport name as Robin Hood, or give the usual distance details.
So for simplicity, I'd use Doncaster - that seems to be what the punters are searching on, but no doubt that wouldn't please folk in Sheffield.

Speaking as someone from Sheffield, I think I'll just call it Doncaster.
Calling it Doncaster Sheffield leads to confusion with the existing Sheffield airport, also geographically it's far nearer Doncaster.
As for calling it Finningley, well, some people still call Manchester airport Ringway

most locals here in donny still refer to it as finningley, seems as though Doncaster will be the most used name for it and thank goodness, nothing to do with those people 20 miles west,so there !!!
