I noticed in the local newspaper, that the airport has asked for 20 trees to be felled in the cemetery at 14 threshold.
It was stated that this was to comply with CAA regulations.
And also so as to not effect the radar. Ten feet would also be removed from the graveyard.
Does anyone know if this is connected with an attempt to upgrade to Cat2 on 14?

lbalad - it was an AN72, YL-KSB, bringing in horses for the York race meeting.

The Swefly is in this afternoon again, even thought there is no Lahore flight - possible bringing in mangoes again as it did last Sunday!

I flew on that aircraft very nice inside, a bit like a new A320, well not quite but it has had a very good refit inside.

If they take care of the maintenance in the same way they do the interior then it will be in good condition.

The 767's are schedule to carry out the LBA flights, The md must have been a substitute.

Swefly Lahore

These flights doing very well. The 767 departs with around 150 to 180 per flight. The 767 only has around 220 seats on it, as there is a premier/business section on board I believe. Aircraft is night stopping LBA again tonight before departing to Lahore tomorrow. The flights are increasing from 3 to 4 a week from August. Lets hope a further increase to daily soon with maybe Islamabad added too.

Informed by one of the cleaners.....

I was told that an American Policeman and his car had been spotted on the terminal front for a photoshoot with LBA marketing, sounds promising!

Can anyone confirm this or is this just a rumour?

Some of the armed terrorist squad police which are in place for certain flights and during the present climate look a bit American with their black shirts. Can't offer any explanation about a US cop car though!

As most Pakistani's in the Bradford/Leeds are originally from the Mirpur area, is Lahore the best route?

Anyhow lets hope its a great success!

Goodbye Airways

Well just a few more days for the bmi crews to endure what passes for service from Airways at Leeds.

To be fair the ramp guys are a good bunch and hopefully some will join Aviance as they ramp up their operation at Leeds.

The real problem at Airways starts with that nasty little piece of sh*te that trys to pass him self of as a supervisor, what a joke! he couldn't organise a piss up in brewery.

If they give Jet2 the same sort of service as they have given bmi over the past 3 months then, they'll all be down the road.

Whilst ramp agencies are not the responsibility of LBIA, customers don't see it that way, 15 minutes wait for a wheelchair reflects badly on the Airport, the Airline, sadly not Airways

Leeds has had a good Summer and when its over the Board need to have a long hard think about next year.

Staff Car parks

Ground Frequency

The state of R14/32

CAT2 on 14

With taxy Delta closing for 3 months to be re constructed i suspect things will get worse before they get better.

Cheers

Burt

American to Newcastle

Firstly POL1W It would apear that you were wrong about an American airline starting a new service in the 'present climate' in the UK.

Looks like the American police car was the last ditched attempt at catching the eye of the Americans on their Leeds visit. Better luck next time LBA. Maybe there is still a chance with Continental?

Ok folks, so it's still early days yet, but has anyone got any news about Astraeus' Summer 06 program from LBA, or any other new charter services?

Looks like they are operating the CMF for Tui on Saturdays and the Airtours Sunday morning AGP this Winter. No more news about Summer 2006 as yet! Just waiting for the 2nd editions to come out.
