Now that would be a bold step, though when you think about it, it makes good sense I suppose, would boost both airlines and all airports concerned.

Jet2 have shown that they are not afraid to make bold steps to enhance their business, you only have to look at the 757s to Tenerife, and the big operation from MAN when well established at LBA.

FlyBe and CO do indeed codeshare.

I would love to see Jet2 commence New York flights from LBA.I would book seats tomorrow,if it is true. Also think a flight to Toronto would be a winner, since no one has tried it since Wardair,Worldways,Odyssey etc.

Jet 2 to JFK - unlikely

Your enthusiasm and speculation regarding Jet 2 and JFK is getting a little out of hand. Just because they are getting 757s does not mean they are going into long haul. Further speculation about them getting into bed with Jet Blue is also going into the realms of fantasy, for these reason alone
1 Loco long haul has been tried before and has not been exceptionally successful.
2. Loco TransAtlantic connecting with Loco US flights will dilute rvenue for Jet 2 across the Atlantic, making it less profitable, if they were to consider through fares. At the end of the day it would be 2 separate airlines concerned, Jet 2 and Jet Blue, not the same one offering point to point fares. But...
3. Locos do not guarantee making connections - flight to flight, if you miss your flight you lose your money. They would have to start offering compensation or reroutes, or hotel accommodation if the flight from Leeds was late for any reason. 80 or so missed connections would prove a little expensive, and that would eat into any profit margins big style, and Locos just don't do that.

So, sorry to put a dampener on things, and as much as I would like to see it happen, I think in reality it won't.
But I have been wrong before!

lba

About time they sorted the place out. Jet2 seem to be on the ball re prices and keeping time, only thing they got wrong was LBA should have used teeside. Found LBA to be shocking re check in, security ( how many staff standing about looking at massive peopel jam) All in all a small airport that said OK to too much traffic and is only now trying to sort it out.

nowt wrong with teeside ay least dont land there and wait two hours for one bus to pitch up for 90 people. Dont have four plane loads of people trying to squish through one wee door, to be held up by blokes checking ID s (again) if a Belfast flight is in.

Thats cos you never get 4 plane loads of people at Durham .

Two hours for one bus? Yeah - whatever!

As we keep saying, this is not an LBA bashing thread, its about expansion, and my personal experiences of LBA have been excellent over the years, maybe im just lucky.

Then perhahps they need to sort the terminal and handling out not move away from the one thing that made them such a success. LBA was chosen because of a large untapped market on the airports doorstep. Moving to MME would mean a loss of an awful lot of bums on seats as most of the Yorkshire folks would probably just pop down the M1 to EMA or accross the M62 to MAN/LPL and that's only if some other LoCo didn't move in at LBA to take their place!
LBA has its problems and yes it's frustrating how slowly they get sorted but sorted they will be. MME already has LoCo's in the shape of Baby and Ryanair but the place isn't exactly setting the world on fire with pax growth, maybe thats because people want to fly from their local airport.
Leeds/Bradford has a lot of people on its doorstep MME doesn't!

Just picked up on the A2 entry and exit to the runway for 757's. What I cannot understand is why it is now 1m less than it was. 757's used to taxi regularly via A2 onto the apron. Please tell me why it cannot be used now.

ILS,

I suspect one or two things with the A taxiway. 757 and larger aircraft always park stand 8 - stand 18. To get there from A2 means taxiing round the bend at stand 6. If there is an a/c parked here or on stand 7 the gap can be a bit tight. In the past a frequent ATC advice was " if you don't think you have enough room taxi through Charlie via RW10 (as it was then) and back in at Bravo." OR, the A taxiway centreline was painted too close towards the stands (probably by about a metre !) thus compromising any a/c parked on stand 1 - stand 6. Maybe it will get moved the next time the yellow paint gang are about, assuming there are no centreline lights to be moved as well.

Won't be a problem when the new parallel taxyway from A2 to the Echo loop is put in. OOPS sorry I just woke up this is LBA we're talking about, maybe in 20 years then!

With reference to my last post I have found the answer. When the Stands 1 to 5/6 were realigned and painted. The clearance was miscalculated by 1m. i.e the width of the taxiway. This is why A2 cannot be used for 757's.

RAFAT....

By "sort that bloody runway out" do you mean re sufice it?

because not much can be done about the relief of the land really, if you are refering to the slope it is on.

Anyone notided the skid marks on the end of 32 that the A320 (JY-JAR) that went off made? it shows clearly that the turning circle of the aircraft was not miscalculated by the pilot and that the plane did in fact swerve quite quickly.....

perky35 - sorry old chap, yes I did indeed mean resurface it. It just hasn't stood up well to the increased abuse that's been thrown at it over the last 3 - 4 years. The condition of it is unacceptable for a large regional airport.

Just had a nod from swefly that they are not looking to increase to other destinations at this time with lba, but do want to increase their timetable with the Lahore flight.

Lba need to increase their terminal I think to cope with the number of people waving "bye bye"

767-200 Flightcrew of two, or optionally three. Typical two class seating for 18 premium and 198 economy class pax. Max seating for 290 at eight abreast and 76cm (30in) pitch. Underfloor cargo holds can accommodate up to 22 LD2 containers
hope this helps
