Cool Prophead

Maybe that should be asked on the Manch thread!

Latest from the Jet2 camp is that five 757's are on there way, 2 for LBA, 2 for MAN, 1 for EDI.

Don't know for what routes, but across the pond looks a fav

All speculation of course

Jet2 757s

From the www.jet2.com The indications are that the Malaga service will be once daily with a 757 in the winter!

the indications are
If you look at the time laps from Landing at Malaga to departing Malaga it indicates a 757 operation.

Lets wait and see, but I think i'm right.

Leodis, what are you going on about? The LBA-AGP flights are scheduled for the winter with the same 40 minute turnround in AGP that Jet2 have always had.

By the same token, the Manchester-Malaga flights showing on Jet2's website for the winter indicate an arrival at Malaga at 13:20 local and a departure at 17:30 local. What does that indicate - an A380 operating the service?!!

Burger King

Hey chaps and chapettes!!

This may seem a bit of a picky thing to say but does anybody know why it takes 20 minutes to serve 4 people in burger king. i spent the said 20 minutes queuing yesterday only to find that i had not got what i ordered.

On top of that, our good friends at SSP have the fantastic ability to hire staff that love the word F**K and T**T all the time whilst serving customers.

My final rant for the day is the extreamly petty fact that anybody buying food from the "high street prices" Greggs will not be allowed to sit in the same eating area as everybody else. Maybe SSP should concentrate on reducing their prices than acting like spoilt children.

Any other comments would be interesting to read.

Laters.

Interesting point there lamix1w, but you actually found BK open?

This by itself is amazing. It opening hours are 11:00 - 18:00 despite the airports busiest hours been 05:00 - 13:00. The people behind SSP really don't know how to run a business. Some of the girls and boys behind the counters need a hygene lesson, let alone an English lesson.

BK is the only thing that can take on Gr**s at LBA and they don't even have it open, more fools them.

Latest LBA review of business

Taken from the LBA website

Air Transport White Paper

The White Paper published in December 2003 is supportive of the future growth of the Airport and recognises its potential to handle 7 million passengers by 2030. Work has commenced on the preparation of a Master Plan for the airport, taking into consideration the contents of the Air Transport White Paper

....could this include the recommended runway extention of 300m?

Other things noted included

Plans are being finalised to extend the apron areas and departure lounges
to increase the capacity of the central screening area over the next 3 to 5 years
further increase the public and staff carparks
phased development of high quality office accomodation (known as Airport West)

I think all this is reasonable within the timescale given.

Not really sure why the airport have suddenly decided to post this on the webiste. It relates to the year-ending 31-Mar-04, i.e. it is about 15 months old now. The 'review of business' for the most recent year should be being written as we speak and should hopefully have a much more up to date position on the masterplan and associated developments.

SSP have such a dominence at many uk airports, and many airport operators seem reluctant to let any one else in.

I agree with the comments about Burger King but on the wages i know ssp pay what do you expect?? Its all about profit.

The best way to rid airports of these overpriced outlets would surely be to bring in environmental health to see the personal hygiene of some of those that work there!

Many of the SSP staff are dirty and one member of staff at Manchester even boasts about how many days he's worn his uniform for without washing it! (and that includes sleeping in it)

LBA Masterplan?

This LBA Masterplan seems to have been gently cooking away for over a year now. It must be turning into an EU Constitution sized super-duper Masterplan at this rate! Any ideas what it causing the hold-up?

On the "Expansion" front Jet2's winter 05/06 offering is gradually being released. AGP will not even be daily for some parts of the season and this was generally the route with the most consistent high load factor last winter.

Jet2 winter program

PTH needs tarmac

I was informed the Malaga service even outperformed PMs own expectations last winter, I still think that it is highly likely one of the two 757s will operate to AGP.

Delta Taxiway rebuilding commencing this Autumn

Does anyone know if the rebuilding of the Delta Taxiway will affect flights? If the taxiway out of service for sometime, the airport will have to almost follow 'low visability' proceedures with full back track of aircraft.

Anyone know if the rebuilding of Delta will include upgrading PCN to take the real heavies 747 etc? I believe that whenever a DC10/MD11/A330/747 land at LBA the only way to/from the apron is via 27 and Bravo/Charlie. Anyone able to confirm this?

Thumbs up Leodis

You are correct about one of the 757's operating AGP. It was in one of the memo's released to the crews a while ago.

HOODED, you are correct. even the 767 can't use delta taxiway which creates a long backtrack after landing on 14 or for takeoff on 32. So an upgrade would be most welcome to everyone i would imagine.
