Anyone else get the new LBAirmail through the post today?

I think its a really good effort from LBA and the publishers, a hell of alot better than the old one.

Actually gives good info on flights and destinations, especially like to see all the attention on Zante seen as I have just booked a holiday there with Britannia from LBA in August

LBAirmail

I have to second that 'LBA'. Good effort marketing, it's good to see the AIRPORT actually pushing ITSELF and AIRLINES for once, instead of all those curry shops. Don't let standards slip in the next issue though.

Ps. Looks like its going to be four times yearly again!

JET2.com Paris service

Just noticed their Paris service is back on sale for the summer with the original times. Does anyone know how this can fit into the schedule with the fleet as it stands? More aircraft, more destinations????

Bit big would've thought. Maybe better suited to a new route like LBA-TFS!

They must be starting a TFS route if there getting a 737-400, i mean if they werent getting a 737-400 they would of probs ended up getting yet another 737-300.

Tommy, please please please stop spouting crap. The arrival of a 737-400 might have no bearing whatsoever on the start of a Tenerife service. And if you'd read previous threads, you'd know that a 737-300 was far more likely of operating LBA-Tenerife-LBA without payload or operational problems than a 737-400!

I'm sure I've stated this before but Jet2 were stretched pretty thin for their peak summer schedule, possibly 1 aircraft too few (required aircraft LBA 9, MAN 7, BFS 2, EDI 1). I suspect they held off releasing the LBA-CDG flight for exactly this reason and possibly in the slim hope of getting better CDG slots.

As seems the case they have leased an extra aircraft, initially to cover maintenance and then for extra capacity in the summer.

True there are gaps in their schedule at LBA and routes could be added (though not ones beyond the operational range of the aircraft!).

The larger capacity aircraft is more likely to be put on routes such as MJV or AGP which saw the highest demand last summer. It could equally be used from MAN if routes there demand it and the longer runway is available.

LBA-LCY?

Just been reading the latest news page on LBIA's website about free car parking for LBA-LCY passengers. Their timetables shows 4 flights a day to LCY. Is the 10am departure now operating again after been scrapped a couple of weeks ago due to poor loads or is it just marketing on the ball again and didn't realise that the flights had been cut to 3 a day. On Flybmi.com they are only showing 3 flights a day for next week but going back to 4 for the summer timetable. I think another marketing boob!!! They will be offering free manicures to all passengers flying to Las Palmas and Fuerteventura on winter breaks next!!!

bmi S05 timetable

bmifox

S05 is a fair way from being signed off and at present it looks like LCY will stay at 3 a day, the times have been fine tuned with the fisrt departure now at 06.45 rather than 07.10.

The ATR is in Leeds for the summer program and may well be doing the second GLA morning rotation or JER/ORK(GLA is going to 4 a day as is EDI) EDI is four a day from this weekend as the Fokker as now gone to pasture new, but not before it went tech on its very last flight for regional (and diverted into EMA)

LBA now have 4 ERJ based including XD in the special " Burns night" color scheme

Interesting timing, ahead of Luffty moves, more major announcements are expected from regional later next week

Cheers

Burt

If it's a Canaries trip I guess it will be a -700, unless AEU have a C1 powered -300 (like Air Europa used to have).

737-300 with B2 engines should suffice on Leeds-Tenerife or Las Palmas. I guess this is only an issue on the Saturday night Las Palmas.

Inkjet - "XD in the special 'Burns Night' colour scheme" - you mean as opposed to the one scorched at Glasgow last Saturday in the "Burns Night" re-enactment?!!

The press release on the LBA website is a bmi press office release, not an LBA marketing team release and, frankly speaks volumes about bmi's approach to running this route to date. It's astounding that someone can sign-off a document dated Jan 25th, the prima facia purpose of which is to promote 4 flights a day and the 2nd flight being retimed to 10:00, when in fact the 2nd flight was binned from the schedule 2 weeks previous. It even contains a quote from the MD of bmi regional talking about 'more choice' on the route. Sounds like marketing and operations don't talk very much.

Not only that, they've even managed to get the time wrong of the flight that doesn't exist. Spot the deliberate mistake!

Leeds Bradford to London City

BD503 departs 06:45, arrives 07:55
BD505 departs 08:20, arrives 09:30

London City to Leeds Bradford

BD504 departs 08:20, arrives 09:30
BD506 departs 11:35, arrives 12:40

Suddenly it all becomes (painfully) clear.

Credit to LBA for getting a car park offer up and running and spending their own money advertising the route in the business pages of the local press. Let's hope bmi get with it sooner rather than later or I suspect it might all rather be in vain.

TIY/GBBAE,

Why just because Jet2 are getting 734s would they operate a TFS route? Doesent have anything to do with that.

Air 2000 did have an A321 over the winter if I remember rightly, what has that got to do with anything?
