LHR Mixed Mode slot allocation.

If LHR ever gets mixed mode operations how will the slots be allocated? Will BA automatically get the most as they have the greatest number of slots?

Also will this be the answer to DL, CO and NW entering LHR as there is not the room now?

BA already has far too many slots at LHR, so I'm not sure how the EU Commission - which would almost definitely be brought in to oversee the process - would react to that.

Does anyone know how many extra slots this would yield per hour? I heard a figure of about 6%.

There is currently a government consultation process into regional flights and I'm sure that many of the responses will focus on access to Heathrow, from places like JER, IOM and others. For example, is it a good use of valuable slots at LHR for the likes of MAN to have around 17 flights a day - with A319s and 320s - when other regional destinations lose out; couldn't MAN have an express rail link, for example?

As for the US, that will depend on the provisions of the bilateral, when it's finally revised. Don't hold your breath, though. The UK carriers have the DFTR wrapped around their little finger, asking for something that won't ever be granted (cabotage), purely to delay the process, which will bring more competition to LHR.

Why do you think that BA have to many slots at LHR?

I was told a while ago, that BA would get roughly 8% of any new slots created at LHR (50% should go to existing airlines, of which half go to UK airlines, and these are split pretty much evenly between BA, BD and VS) - this compared to the 40-odd % they currently hold.

Akerosid, what percentage of slots at FRA are held by Lufthansa, and at CDG/AMS held by Air France / KLM? I'm sure it's more than 40%. So BA's holding at LHR is not excessive.

express trains to London!!! best joke I`ve heard in a long time

South Manchester has had no trains to London for a month and won`t have until September whilst they improve the line
like last time and then they slowed the trains down to improve the service

G.I.B,

Exactly! Express Train & UK ha, ha, ha. Mutually exclusive things. Maybe MAN has more LHR flights than most other Uk Airports because of the market size. I belive EDI has quite a few too.
