Aviance pull out of Stansted

I have it on good authority that Aviance Handling are giving 90 days notice for passenger handling at Stansted, although Aviance will continue with Cargo handling from this station.

I thought that they were expanding, with new contracts like Zoom, Malev and Euromanx ?????????

Yes quite correct about Aviance pulling out of STN. The reason that i heard from a very good source was that no money was being made there plus high costs operating from STN. However if anyone from Aviance can shed some light on this and correct me if i am wrong.

I also heard a rumour regarding aviance being linked with BRS to be the 3rd handling agent, which in my view is definitely needed.

Certainly interesting times ahead and a shame for aviance as i have found them to be a very good agent to work with in the past alas not in STN.

I have heard rumours that Aviance may be starting an operation at EMA this winter. Can anyone else shed any light on this rumours? I do hope Aviance do start at EMA, as there really needs to be a 2nd handling agent at EMA as Servisair have a virtual monopoly and cannot really cope with the volume of work they have.

Unhappy

Quote from press release of 02 August:

AVIANCE-UK LTD RESTRUCTURE OPERATIONS AT STANSTED

Aviance UK Limited currently undertake both passenger and cargo handling operations at Stansted Airport. Following the loss, last year, of it’s major passenger handling customer, Buzz after it’s acquisition by Ryanair, Aviance have found it extremely difficult to operate the required level of service to its remaining customers whilst providing a positive financial contribution to its own business.

The Company has, therefore, taken the difficult decision to withdraw from Ramp and Passenger Handling at Stansted. Consultation will now take place with Customers and Unions representing staff affected.

The Cargo handling division at Stansted will remain unaffected by this decision and the Company will continue its efforts to grow this area of the business.

The decision to terminate the Ramp and Passenger Services at Stansted was taken with extreme reluctance as the Company has had a long relationship with both its staff and customers.

The action taken now will enable the Company to strengthen the business and move forward providing a professional ground handling service across the U.K.

Very sad news - as an ex GHI STN employee I was disappointed to hear this. The STN staff were always treated less favourably than other stations within the group, but despite that, were for the most part a very hard working bunch of people.
Good luck to all affected by this decision.

Good Luck to the Aviance staff at STN, a helpful, happy and friendly bunch.

Servisair, Swissport (formerly Groundstar) and Stansted Ground Operations (SGO) who handle the Buzz Stansted side of Ryanair are the other current passenger and ramp providers at STN - could this provide further growth for Servisair who in recent years have seen a smaller product at STN.

sorry but only themselves to blame!

i work at stansted for a rival ground handling agent, who has
downsized considerably over the years,i do have some former
colleagues who work at aviance, who i have sympathy for.
however by trying to undercut your rivals by 40% you are
asking for trouble especially with the high operating costs
out of stansted.

sounds cynical i know, but what a cost to pay!

what does the future holds for us all?

Mickey 71 if you work for Servisair at STN then you should know all about undercutting the opposition, it's exactly what your company used to do before you lost the big contracts and had to come into the real world

Servisair used to be at least £150 per turnround cheaper than GHI/aviance for a 130 seater. Then with the loss of contracts there was a realisation that prices needed to rise.

I think it is a great shame for the aviance staff in the terminal as they worked hard to provide a very good level of service for their customers, and their front line c-in staff seemed to have a level of maturity not found in the competition. I hope they have all found employment.

Standard Jet Dep.....where did you hear the rumour about Aviance moving into BRS? I'd be curious to know where they're going to park all their ramp equipment, where their passenger handling office will be housed, where their managers offices will be, etc etc. There's no room at BRS as far as I know for any of this! BRS needs to expand before any more handling agents arrive!
