Having spent 50 minutes holding for Mumbai on a domestic from Delhi last Sunday, I don't thnk the idea of operating domestic or domestic international (e.g. BOM-DEL- London or FRA) is ridiculous. We'll have to wait and see but BOM is aleady a bottleneck and theres'no solution anytime soon.

KFR and DKN are now merged

As per Reuters, the merger of DKN and KFR has been orally approved by the High Court of Karnataka.

Let the good times begin....

A judge in the Karnataka High Court has said the merger can go ahead. Obviously he hasn't written it down yet.

Believe this means Kingfisher will now be expanding abroad.

An interesting time to try it if they do.

Kingfisher India to Commence UK routes

According to Video on BBC, Kingfisher have already secured slots at LHR with the first route to be LHR-BOM commencing end august/ start september.

He must brave venturing into europe with the current fuel price hikes.

Expansion in current economic climate?

I noticed in the London Lite today that Kingfisher Airlines are running a half page advert for cabin crew to be based out of London, New York, San Francisco, Dubai and Singapore.

I thought Kingfisher only flew domestic flights and this seems to be reinforced by their website booking options. Do they have slots already for these routes or are they deep into negotions to obtain the routes from other carriers or the carriers themselves ?

Seems against the current trend of airlines cutting back with the current economic climate but it may be that they are seizing an opportunity whilst they can.

Regards,

Jof

I haven't particularly watched the state of the Tiger economies, but it is rather arrogant to assume that as the Western economies are going through pain, the Far East/Russia/India and China economies have to follow us and suffer the same pain. The last two especially are on a roll. India is probably going from 'Full Ahead all engines!' to 'Half Ahead all engines!'.

No arrogance intended, it was not intended as a swipe against anybodys economies - good or bad.

My point was that they were expanding into markets where other airlines are clearly feeling the pinch.

I was also pondering whether they are getting their allocation of slots from - i.e. new or existing.

Regards,

Not arrogant to say that they are suffering the problems with fuel prices that everyone else is, though.

A lot of truth in that. Invest when there's a downturn and reap the benefits when things get better. Hasn't harmed Easy and Ryan. It's the ones who try to shrink their way out of a crisis who tend to be ill-prepared when things get better as the competition has been investing for the future at bargain prices while they have been divesting of assets in a buyers market only to look to buy in a sellers market!

Kingfisher

I would like to welcome Kingfisher Airline to our shores.
I read that the cabin crew have all been personally selected by the Chairman.
Now there is a man who has his priorities right!
Head to head with Big Airways and he uses glamour as a weapon, good man!
Anyway, I wish him and his new venture a great success.
