My Travel AXES!!!
According to newspaper reports, My Travel are to cut 5 aircraft from its fleet aircraft this winter. In the process 540 jobs will be lost and will mostly include pilots and cabin crew. This is a strategy to try and get back into profitability for 2005.
My Travel have said that the wost affected airports will be Cardiff, London-Gatwick and Manchester with these taking the brunt of the aircraft and job losses.
My Travel's and TBI's (owner of Cardiff airport) share price plummeted on Tuesday with news of this.
Now as far as I know for the last few summer seasons, Cardiff currently have based 1x A321 all week with an A320 based on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, and an A320 based throughout the winter seasons. So I am therefore assuming that Cardiff will from this coming winter and summer season either have a Spanish airline based to do the flights (like Spanair at Teesside) or all of their flights will be a mixture of Spanish flights and My Travel Ws from Bristol.
I'm not sure how Gatwick and Manchester will be affected.
Can anybody else shed any more light on the matter?

The FT on tuesday was reporting that My Travel were closing its bases at STN & LBA and Bristol & Cardiff were to become 'summer only' bases. This was in addition to the LGW & MAN changes already mentioned.

Regarding MYT aircraft cuts, which planes are expected to get the axe, i mean the DC10 is already leaving, however is it true that 757s and 767s will also be getting the boot making it an all Airbus fleet.
