Arrests after gun found at city airport Jul 26 2004

Police arrested five people after finding a gun in a car at Coventry Airport during routine security checks yesterday afternoon.
Four of the suspects have since been released but a 40-year-old man from Bromsgrove was still in custody awaiting questioning this morning.
Officers swooped on the vehicle and recovered a handgun after approaching the man who they believed was acting suspiciously at about 12.30pm.
Four Venice-bound passengers he had dropped off earlier were also arrested but later released without charge.
Witnesses reported seeing police following the man's car into the airport before moving in to make the arrests.
A force spokesman said: "As a result of routine security checks by Warwickshire Police officers, a man was arrested at Coventry airport after a firearm was found in his car.
"A full security check of passengers, baggage and the airport was then carried out. Nothing else was found.
"The airport returned to normal operations early yesterday evening and a criminal investigation has been launched."
The Venice flight was postponed and all passengers and baggage were taken off the plane for full security checks.
