Danger Tim Jeans Quits MYT

Sad to see the champion of MYT's recovery depart. Perhaps the TJ/FP partnership wasn't that sweet after all. As to his new stomping ground, could be any of the UK based LOCO's, those already mentioned and maybe Baby?? Was it a case of an offer toooooo good to turn down, or, that's the last life boat.........and it's mine!!

Cool

Kishna

Easy answer to that one! Tim is commercially minded and understands how to manage capacity for tour operators! Clearly one of our competitors realised that as well. Being a good manager does not necessarily make you popular and he had his detractors. I for one feel he made an enormous contribution to the airline and has done a lot to ensure the airline gets back to what it was in the first place, the transport arm for those who really make or break us, the tour operators.

Lets not loose sight of the big picture, Mytravel is a tour operator that has an airline, not an Airline that has a number of tour operators. What happens in the airline is not as important as what happens in the tour operators, they make or loose money, without them there is no Airline. Tim understood that and drove the airline to meet the needs of the tour companies unlike DB who tried to make us into an Airline separate from the core business. So yes I am very sorry to see Tim go!

Dada, spy etc,

A nicer guy you will not meet. Lots of people in Manchester airport and Ryanair will back that up. Good luck to him wherever he goes. I know that lots of people in MYT will be very sorry to see him go.

longarm,

The Travel Trade Gazette. " Industry speculation has pointed to him taking on a senior role at Monarch Airlines, which would allow it to build its scheduled business and compete more in the no-frills market."

Ya gotta love the TTG. Typical journalistic cr*p. Why on earth would Monarch want to recruit TJ to grow it's scheduled business?
It is growing PROFITABLY quite nicely thank you very much without the knee jerk Ryanesque approach of TJ. Let's face it, what has TJ achieved outside of the MOL environment? Absolutely bugger all.

Please feel free to flame

TartinTon, I don't know anything more about this than I suspect you do, but I certainly wouldn't rule anything out vis-a-vis where TJ will appear next. If he does show up at Monarch, will you be eating those words about the TTG's journalistic standards?

FWIW: I know only too well how you guys and gals are feeling right now. Nothing'll make it better, so know that here is one once-happy aviator thinking of you and hoping for the best.

Good luck, all.

TartinTon, why wouldn't Monarch need someone with the 'Ryanesque' attitude in place to take the fat out of Monarch and make a real difference to profitability. That's after all what TJ is famous for.... what are you scared of? If that's where he is headed, seems like a good move to me.

A small note of humour...

One of the trade press sub-editors couldn't resist the opportunity presented by Tims hasty departure and a lack of space;

Jeans legs it!

Priceless

Actually Zed911, what Jeans is famous for is implementing the strategy of his boss at Ryanair and appearing "oily" when justifying the strategy on programmes like Watchdog.

What he's seemingly done at MYT is follow a long line of directors in going in, making poor business decisions and getting out again.

It will be interesting to see how much yet another senior figure to jump ship at MYT has milked the company for.
