Myt Lba

Anyone got an idea on what aircraft MyTravel are basing at Leeds this winter, A320, A321, 757???? or will they be having a Spanair aircraft based at Leeds like Teesside have had this summer. An MD83 at Leeds would be great.

Just had a quick look at the MyTravel website for the LBA Winter flights. I couldn't find the following flights at all...
Monday, LBA-LPA-LPA
Tuesday, LBA-TFS-LBA
Wednesday, LBA-FUE-LBA
Thursday, LBA-ACE-LBA is still showing a LBA based aircraft to operate these flights as in a morning departure and evening arrival back into LBA.

Friday, LBA-TFS-LBA is now showing a non based aircraft. Land LBA at 1630 and departing back to TFS at 1755.

Saturday, LBA-ALC-LBA is now showing a non based aircraft.Land LBA at 1405 and departing back to ALC at 1520

Sunday, LBA-AGP-LBA is still showing a LBA based aircraft again early morning departure and late evening arrival.

Had a look at Thomsons website aswell for their Winter flights from LBA. They look to have a based Britannia aircraft doing ALC on Tue, ACE on Wed, ALC and AGP on Thu and TFS on Fri.
Their LPA and PMI on Saturdays during the latter part of the Winter season have disappeared.

Like MME has, LBA closes as a permanent /seasonal MYT base any remaining crew redundant or re-based.....or work for Baby!! Sad but these are things they need to do to keep swimming.

LBA downgraded from year-round base to summer-only base.

MME downgraded from summer-only base to closed.

Came across this table recently. It's a rough estimate of the short-haul charter capacity offered by the big 4 in the North for summer 04. It's a bit flawed in that with the exception of the Monarch operation for My Travel at LPL, its based on services flown by their own fleets and doesn't include all the sub-con stuff.

Manchester
TUI 1,000
MYT 975
TCX 950
FCA 925
TOTAL 3,850

Leeds
TUI 145
MYT 145
TCX -
FCA 10
TOTAL 300

Liverpool
TUI 175
MYT 100
TCX -
FCA -
TOTAL 275

Humberside
TUI 50
MYT 25
TCX -
FCA -
TOTAL 75

Data shows numbers of seats in 000's, meaning there are 4.5 million seats in total of which 3.85 million (86%) is based out of MAN.

On top of that Excel / Monarch / Astraeus have a 1 million more seats out of MAN and nothing from the other airports, meaning that about 95% of charter capacity is going from one airport over what is quite a wide region.

No wonder the tour operators are in the brown stuff and are loosing share to the loco's. Shouldn't MYT et al be trying to put the supply where the demand is if they want to stop the rot? Can't believe places like LBA and HUY are expensive in comparison to MAN

"An MD83 at Leeds would be great".

I suspect you've never loaded 150-odd bags on to one of these
heaps or unloaded one on arrival. I've bashed me 'ead several times and had countless muscle sprains in the tiny holds. They're
smart looking aircraft, granted, but "great", well, I beg to differ.

At the moment, we've got a SkyService A320 plying the MyTravel routes. Reasonably reliable and dead easy to load. I expect we'll see the return of those ever - so sooper B757s this winter although I admit not expecting My Travel (or Thomson) to base any aircraft at LBA at all in 2004/2005.

All the best.

Theres a chance of a Spanair aircraft being based at Leeds this winter then.
As for Thomson, there definatley having an aircraft based this winter and you can at least rely on Britannia not to pull out.
