Rulings On European Airlines Operating From The Uk
HI THERE,
CAN ANYONE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT THE RULES ARE ON EUROPEAN AIRLINES OPERATING FROM THE UK.
eg: A TOUR OPERATOR WANTS TO CHARTER A SPANISH AIRLINE TO OPERATE FROM UK- NON EUROPEAN COUNTRIES.
I KNOW YOU CAN BASE AN AIRCRAFT HERE IN THE UK AND OPERATE TO EUROPE BUT CAN YOU BASE A FOREIGN AIRCRAFT IN THE UK AND OPERATE WORLDWIDE ON A CHARTER BASIS FOR A TOUR OPERATOR.
NOT SURE WHAT THE RULINGS ARE AND WOULD APPRECIATE ANY INFO YOU MAY HAVE.

The UK has a bilateral Air Services Agreement with (just about) every country in the world - apart from EU/Norway/Iceland where multilateral Single Market rules apply.
Who can and can't fly will be covered by the detail of each individual bilateral.
Recent EU legal decisions are unravelling this situation - in theory it is contrary to EU law to have nationality clauses in bilaterals and Spanish airlines should have the same opportunities in the UK market as British ones. Essentially, all bilaterals between an EU and a non-EU country (thousands of them) will have to be renegotiated, which will be a very long and arduous process.
