Says they'll be using an A330 in the pdf document that can be opened via the above link.
Isn't that what you'd expect given it would seem to be designed to find employment for the 3rd machine between the Carribean flights?

Elgan - the 4th A330, G-WWBC was delivered to Emirates.
Ref the A340, it has been gossip around the bmi camp for several weeks that the next wide-body in the fleet will be an A340, not an A330, probably leased-in.

I think if you read MAN_Dispatcher
He says about leasing in an aircraft and I think there are A340-300 around, including Virgin who I`m sure have aircraft available as the A340-600 come on stream
Golf India Bravo

bmi will not buy/lease/borrow a 340 for one simple reason - it will not fit in with the policy of making all 330 pilots mixed short-haul/long-haul (MFF).
MFF is being extended now to all the 330 drivers, and we can't MFF fly 320/330 and 340 (maximum of two types at once). So the 340 would be too restrictive. Any further aircraft purchase would have to be a 330 to fit in with the present system.
However, the Vegas flights (if they go ahead - time is now short) seem to be timed to utilise the existing aircraft in between the Caribbean routes. So another aircraft would not be needed.
Also, the 330 would be able to fly the route comfortably - even with pax & cargo

teifi,
No aplogies necessary
Most of us already are MFF, and those who are not are gradually finding A320 renewals appearing on their rosters!
Even as it stands at the moment, there would not be enough 330 only drivers to enable a viable 330/340 MFF operation. Let alone the cost/complication of having over half the fleet MFF 320/330, and the rest 330/340....can you imagine the number of new memos and SOP's that would generate ?!

The Caribbean developments are the addition of a Monday flight to St Lucia by the look of it...
Also doing some extra flights to Barbados around Christmas!
I presume they must be doing better than they had thought of in the Caribbean????????????????
Looks like things are looking up for their longhaul stuff!!! Good luck to them!

Hope that one of their A330s doesn't go bang this winter - could be a fair bit of expensive subbing if it does!
If the plan is to operate 4 routes with one aircraft, as far as I can see, there is absolutely no slack in the system for something to go wrong. Which, inevitably, it does.
Hope they've done their homework.
