Service commences 1.9.04, one flight daily, LS315 leaves LBA 1100 arrives CDG 1340. Return LS316 leaves 1420 arrives LBA 1500. Is this the end of the Jet2/BMI(Baby??) phoney war?

Direct competition perhaps - in the sense that both will operate from the same airport - but how many people from the LBA catchment that are looking for a city break to Paris, a trip to Euro Disney etc actively consider bmi ex-LBA. On the basis that the route barely carries 5k per month vs c.60k from MAN/LPL then "not many" is probably the answer. Also, the press blurb quoted statements like "It’s the one everyone has been waiting for" and "demand for low cost travel to Paris from Leeds Bradford has been huge, with the region’s travellers all wanting access to regular low cost a flights" - a clue perhaps that many people have been banging onto the airport/Jet2 for something that bmi just isn't providing.
Its therefore conceivable that bmi could continue to run a niche service of 4-5k pax per month and Jet2 claw back a further 6-7k from MAN/LPL. Completely different scenario of course if Jet2 do eventually get the right slots for an am/pm double daily and/or if bmi decide to transfer the current LBA service to baby.
