easyJet search for more destinations
LONDON (AFX) - easyJet PLC, the Luton-based no-frills airline, said it is launching a new Europe-wide search for airports to be part of its measured expansion plans.
"There are numerous opportunities for growth in Europe and at any one time we are always talking to many airports. We are in a buyer's market in Europe for airport services. Our challenge is narrowing down the airport opportunities to those that meet our criteria," said chief executive Ray Webster.
easyJet is asking airports to self-select, according to a set of criteria, such as whether the airport can support 20-minute aircraft turnarounds and whether the airport can demonstrate market opportunities to multiple easyJet destinations.
Last summer easyJet launched an identical campaign, to which 83 airports responded. From these, easyJet has already announced the establishment of six new airports to the easyJet network - Berlin, Dortmund, Basel, Cologne, Budapest and Ljubljana.

Just give in to BAA and come to EDI! We know you want to! EDI already sees wave after wave or orange 737s landing and taking-off, we even have a few based!
Look at how well the full sevice airlines are doing here! CSA going twice daily etc.
easyJet could do very well at EDI, they aready do, but AMS isn't enough on the internatioanl front!

HAHAHAHAHA!
So EZY want the airport authorities to come forward and īself-selectī themselfs to see if EZY can set up a base there and fill the aircraft.
Maybe EZY should make a business plan first and then order 120 Wonderbusses.
Great, letīs start the rumours about a AGP, BUD, BCN, NCE or AMS base again!

Yes, very true FlapsOne!
It just seems a bit unorthodox to buy so many airplanes and then later on trying to figure out what to do with em.
"Adopt an Airbus" would be an approriate slogan I guess!

C'mon everyone. If you can't recognise a bit of PR guff and/or free advertising dressed up as an unusual press release - well, you haven't noticed much about Easy's style over the years.
I'm sure their strategic policy team have got a whole range of options already thought through for the future fleet. But nothing to stop them considering if anything even better is out there. Bear in mind also that so many airports in Europe still have as their ultimate masters local politicians who are quite capable of falling for this sort of line if their response gets them into the papers.
It's also good for Easy to have a laugh. Business should be fun !
