Help! Travel advice last minute.

Hi,

It's a long shot but any help or info would be gratefully received.

I am trying (without much success) to get a short notice flight to Toronto, Canada to attend a funeral. Short notice means departing 23 April (in order to attend the service on Saturday 24th) and hence returning on Sunday (25th) or thereabout. Departure point would be pref EGCC or EGBB although the London's would be acceptable.

My searches seem only able to reveal extremely expensive (ludicrously so) to the order £800+.

Is anyone able to recommend a company or service that might offer more reasonable prices? Or, indeed, is this the going rate for such short notice travel.

Thanks in advance.

Dan.

(Apologies if this is the wrong forum.)

a quick check on expedia.co.uk gave 384 pounds from Manchester but via Frankfurt

or try googling "cheap flights Canada" to get other sites.

Good luck

Try using this as a search engine - http://beta.itasoftware.com/ - it doesn't return comprehensive results (not airlines are in, and its tax calculations are as often as not wildly inaccurate) but of what it does return it allows pretty rapid access to alternatives, including if you are prepared to fly out of MAN and into BHX for example. It's suggesting ex-LON fares of about £380 + tax on UA.

Make sure you use LON (or another UK point) as the point of sale when searching.

Don't forget www.lastminute.co.uk for distressed inventory sales (returning £253 + tax on LH), or the consolidators like www.travelbag.co.uk (returning £285 + tax on AA).

The non-stops to YYZ look like they will inevitably cost you an arm and a leg.
