Is this for real guys or another wind up?
If so, damn what was the problem? I thought they were doing well. Just goes to show even the best are at risk of closure.
Sorry guy's if it's true.

Yes it is true, not a wind up, European have gone bust this afternoon. I work for them and have just heard that I lost my job. Wish everyone at European good luck in finding new employment and hope to fly with you all again, as you are truly the nicest crew I have ever worked with!

Truly a great shame.
I travelled with European from LGWSEZ a couple of years back when they operated some flights for Air Seychelles. Yes the 742's were tech both going out and coming back but the crew were all very friendly and hard working.
I really thought EAAC were onto something good when they aquired the 742's from BA. It seemed that it could be a great move for an airline that seemed to be more well know for its 'money worries' than anything else.
Very unfortunate news and my sympathies go to those who now find themselves looking for work. I hope you manage to secure more work soon.

once again i would like to say sorry to all those crew who have lost there jobs. I myself have alot of friends who worked for EAL and my heart goes out to them and the rest of the crew at EAL. there is a light at the end of the tunnel Mytravel Airways are doing a massive recruitment drive throughout the uk good luck if you give it a try. Once again its a shame to see a British Charter airline go under.

Never good news about people losing jobs, but as crumbs of comfort go this must take the cake
"there is a light at the end of the tunnel, Mytravel Airways"
Just what all the EAC people need, a good, solid firm with an assured future.
As my old boss used to say "I'm off to work in jeopardy, there's thousands of jobs there"

According to BBC the company has just made huge job losses blaming excessive expansion. No mention of bankruptcy. Sounds bad to all involved ..... best of luck finding greener pastures.

Cheers for the negative comment Cowboy but Myt are a good firm to work for and the staff are great and getting any job to pay the bills is better than no job and being on the rock and roll(dole)

European
To all Crew,
It was us that kept the airline afloat at the frontline, the man and management let us down, EAAC was never meant to make it out of Bournemouth. Unless they were prepared to move to the 21st century with wages, attitude, management and workload. We are the victims but most of us are destined to be with real airlines.

Brief history lesson for those who maybe don't know - Stoddart is no mug and made good money when he started with the BAC 1-11s - got them cheap and did a great deal on the spares package to keep them flying until the noise regs caused him to change to B737s. Unfortunately this, an abortive attempt at Airbuses, and a damned expensive F1 hobby started the downward slide. Add to that the costs of starting a B747 fleet without enough capital and you have a disaster waiting to happen.
At the end of the day it's his trainset and most people at EAAC/EAL knew what was happening - If you didn't like it, you left (or were encouraged to leave for saying so!)
As for consultants being to blame for the bad decisions, anyone that knows him would know what he thought of consultants.
Anyway, good luck to those that deserve it, particularly the crew and engineers,
and to those that don't ...........

Totally endorse what MUF is saying, I was there at the VERY VERY beginning, before the airline was even formed and when you are a spares company sitting on fifteen or so 1-11's doing nowt what better than to start an airline to create a demand for your own spares.
The market has been through many changes since the early days and EAC are doing nothing but adapting to the current situation, so full marks to the 'management' for having the guts to take the decision. EAAC commercial has some of the best people in the industry in it but if the business isn't there at the right price at the moment thats what you live.
I feel terribly sad for all those that have been made redundant but who knows this adaptation may well create the possibility in the future of EAAC creating more jobs rather than resigning another airline to the graveyard.
Good luck to all at EAAC ( and those now unemployed) from one of the few who started it all off.

EAC or EAAC
With the demise of its 747 operation it surely does not look well for the future, as some of that is with 732's. Of more interest to me is does the company still own the 747's and if so will they or do they have any value or chance of being sold. I assume that one is still retained by the BAA at LGW and I believe there is still one at Manston, the latter not having flown for a couple of years.
Is it the banks that keep putting money into the other LC start ups / others as there have been a couple of late that apart from a website have ceased trading never having flown a sector.

I suggest you have a look at all the other threads about EAAC, you will get a picture of what is going on there.
Bye the way, the 747 at manston has not flown for a couple of months NOT a couple of years.
Do a search for EAAC on the pprune search and you will see all the threads.
Also check out this forum site which has been set up by one of the former employees

Hi All
Just to remind all you ex-EAAC people that today is the last day you can register to take EAAC and Paul Stoddart to an employment tribunal.
If you go to www.employmenttribunals.gov.uk and follow the links you can do it there.
