EMA to Madrid?

I've heard that bmibaby have got suitable slots for an EMA to Madrid service. I think this route would be suitable for at least 3-4 times per week with Pisa returning for the summer. I think Bmibaby would be suitable competition to BA on the Madrid route and Pisa is not operated by any airline in the Midlands at all. Does anyone have any more information on these potential routes?

Madrid was planned to be launched as a bmibaby route from EMA daily if the airline could get the slots into Barajas, however the slots never materialised and the airline went with the safer bet of adding a second flight to Malaga. There is talk that when Easy bases their first 319 at EMA it won't be for replacing the 737 but for launching a new route, and Rome & Madrid seem to be popular guesses.

If I'm not mistaken, you can fly from Birmingham with MyTravelLite to Pisa and from Coventry with Thomsonfly.com, both airports that would be considered in the Midlands.

EMA could really do with some services to Copenhagen/Rome/
Madrid/Athens....where are you Easyjet?? I think there would be demand for all these routes as well as some to Germany..maybe Berlin? Who is opening a base there, I wonder?

MD i totally agree with you, i feel at EMA we could do with Copenhagen, Hungary, Warsaw, Rome,Athens, oslo,Berlin and Lisbon.
These routes are proving very popular at the moment, and not one carrier from EMA do these, mind you BHX only do half of these routes.
Come on EASYJET knock BMI of there perch

Maybe with BMI mainline downsizing from two to one a day on LHR-MAD, they'll use the other slot for Baby?

A friend of mine is EMA based cabin crew, and whilst we tend to be the last to know anything, (as ex-MYT/MYL crew, now searching I know!) has told me a few stories about the base.

Apparently there was some upset and anger from the EMA based crews that NCL has already surpassed the number of destinations, how BRS/NCL is getting constant more flights & especially how EMA was the only route not to get flights from TXL.

According to the friend, Easy have stated they have no plans to add flights in the forseeable future from EMA, simply to just replace the -300s with A319s, although rumor does have it that its simply Easy keeping their cards close to their chest and we'll have two more 319s than we do current number of -300s.

If it does go ahead most likely routes are apparently; AMS, MAD, CIA & PMI.
