Hello,

It should start in the summer of 2004, pending EU approval.

Does anyone have an any idea when Virgin will start taking us out of the "pool"? I've been in it for nearly three months now and the water's starting to get a little cold!!!!

The Australia route is scheduled to start this summer, and is only awaiting EU approval - which is anticipated to be no problem, as Virgin's presence on the route increases competition. Virgin has been flying to Hong Kong for many, many years already.

Virgin is in the process of taking delivery of 10 A340-600s. 6 are currently in service. A further 6 are optioned. The company is looking for 12-18 more aircraft, according to their press releases. It would seem likely that these would be the 6 optioned A346s, a further 6 A346s and the already-optioned 6 A380s on top of the 6 firm orders already placed. There are persistent rumours about 777-300ERs, but I suggest that they are unlikely to be ordered until replacements for B744s are required.

The 'pool' of pilots established by Virgin over the past few months has begun to be emptied, as reports in 'Terms' or 'Questions' have confirmed. Both CCQ and full courses will begin this Spring.

Scroggs

There are persistent rumours about 777-300ERs
so what will Richard do then with the '4 engines for longhaul' on the side of his aircraft?
