There was talk of CX operating non stop from HKG to MAN using an A340. However it never happened.
I hope CX do return to MAN, it would make sense, what with MH and SQ doing extremely well on the Far East routes, and I've heard that Thai (TG) are looking at introducing flights from Bangkok to MAN probably with the A340.

Rampman, I don't think they have any A340s, though CX do. They do have some 777s though which would make sense if they did'nt want to use their 744s.

Ah, CX did operate the A340 into MAN, for a while at least, shortly before they withdrew passenger flights altogether.

Thai does not, at present, have A340s, although it has (subject to a disagreement over the price of shrimp!) five A340-5/600 on order. The -500s would be used for US flights and the -600s, for flights to Europe.

Thai's expansion plans are on ice at the moment, as it was intended that they would pay for the aircraft with shrimp. UAL, as desperate as they are, decided that $330m worth of shrimp, was not acceptable as a way of paying for seven of its -400s!
